The Overhead Training Lead provides technical expertise, apprenticeship training, and program management for all Operations based Apprenticeships. Supports apprentices and service center/departmental leadership in training progressions. Manages on-the-job (OJT) training progression for apprentices, communicates effectively with all union apprentices, and conveys progress to DLC and union Leadership. Supervises the assigned Union trainers in coordination with service center leadership, managing their day-to-day schedule, work activity and priorities to satisfy program objectives.



Job Responsibilities:




  • Manages the execution of OJT Apprentice Training.


    • Manage the progress of Apprentices through the program.
    • Plan and schedule training, develop process documentation, maintain overall schedules and calendars, and perform other supervisory duties for the union apprenticeship programs. Develop or enhance training materials and content as appropriate.
    • Ensure overall apprenticeship compliance by coordinating stakeholders across appropriate departments to address any gaps in programming or regarding individuals at risk of not completing the program.
    • Collaborates with the Utility & Technical Training Manager in development and execution of skills assessment protocols.
    • Ensure adherence to milestones and deadlines by leading coordination with UT&T and proactively addressing issues.
    • Observes conduct of instruction and provides feedback to trainers.
    • Create tracking, tables and charts, and other visual materials to show workflow and progress using Microsoft Office Suite and responds as appropriate to gaps or issues illuminated by the data.





    • Prepare, order, and maintain materials necessary for all apprenticeship training (training outlines, templates, checklists, tools, supplies) as well as travel, logistics, and hospitality.




  • Utility & Technical Training (UT&T)


    • Leads or serves as a key member of UT&T outreach initiatives, may conceptualize the objectives and the related content and agendas for team meetings, tours, and other community outreach programs. May also provide logistical and technical support to ensure successful execution of these initiatives.
    • Develops or enhances technical training content; delivers training as needed.
    • Aligns with and supports overall UT&T goals and objectives.
    • Other duties as required.




Education/Experience Required:



  • Bachelor's degree in a related discipline

    • Equivalent experience and education may be considered in lieu of a bachelor's degree.


  • Seven (7) years related experience.

    • Electric utility experience strongly preferred.





Education/Experience Preferred:



  • Knowledge of electric utility Transmission and Distribution lines and protection schemes
  • Transmission and Distribution Overhead experience
  • Leadership experience in the field as a crew supervisor, crew leader, or foreman



Skills:



  • Strong Computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent communication skills and willingness to collaborate across the organization.
  • Ability to analyze and develop strategies to efficiently schedule and manage programs.
  • Strong interpersonal and communications skills, organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to present in a professional manner and represent the company image.
  • Completes personal and professional development training as agreed to with Manager.
  • Willingness to learn about apprenticeship and technical training.
  • Team focused with a continuous improvement mindset.

Problems and issues faced are vague and require analysis of multiple sources of information for solution. Draws on significant past experience to perform role. Accountable for direct level of reasoning and decision making.



Scope:

Primary Focus is on daily deliverables, outputs and reporting. Accountable for managing one's own time and work flow and leads projects and/or large project steps. Work is complex in nature requiring the incumbent to draw on previous knowledge to perform role. Acts independently the majority of the time, requiring guidance in only complex situations. Has well established capabilities, acts as a resource to less experienced staff on moderately complex issues.



Storm Roles

All Non-Union Employees will serve in storm roles as appropriate to their role and skillset. Please be sure to discuss storm roles with the hiring manager for this position, as duties can vary across the Company.Examples of storm roles could include but aren't limited to duties such as: working with operations for service center support or with the communications, customer service or government affairs teams to respond to public and customer requests for information, etc.



On-Site Work

This position works on site. Reporting location and frequency may be subject to change based on job role and department needs.



Physical Requirements:

Ability to communicate with others both written and orally.Valid driver's license and good driving record required.Able to travel as required.Mobility within the office and on field/construction job sites.
