You may have also acquired the following skills:



  • Knowledge of and experience implementing INPO based Industrial Safety and Human Performance Programs
  • In-depth knowledge of OSHA regulations (29 CFR 1910 and 1926), and familiarity with NRC, INPO, or DOE safety requirements.
  • Ability to interact effectively with all levels of staff and management
  • Ability to change priorities quickly, confront issues directly, and work well as part of a team
  • Commercial nuclear power experience

  • Demonstrated experience in managing field safety at complex or high-risk job sites.


  • Strong communication and leadership skills, with the ability to influence safety culture.


  • Ability to travel to various job sites.


  • Ability to obtain and maintain unescorted access authorization at nuclear facilities.


  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST), or similar certification.


  • Radiation Worker Training or previous work in radiologically controlled environments.


  • Experience supporting refueling outages, decommissioning projects, or radioactive waste handling.


  • Experience with safety management systems (SMS), behavior-based safety, and safety software tools.

As an IB-A Industrial Safety Manager in Lynchburg, VA, you will be part of the proven team in the Quality Business Line in the Installed Base Business Unit. This role is critical to ensuring compliance with all federal, state, local, and client safety regulations, and promoting a strong safety culture that protects employees, contractors, and the public. The ideal candidate will bring deep experience in industrial and construction safety within nuclear or highly regulated environments, with a strong knowledge of OSHA, DOE, NRC, and/or INPO safety standards. Your work will include:


  • Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive industrial safety programs across multiple nuclear project sites in accordance with OSHA, NRC, DOE, and client-specific requirements.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for industrial safety issues and incident response at service sites.
  • Conduct safety audits, job hazard analyses (JHAs), and field inspections to identify and mitigate risks.
  • Lead investigations of safety incidents and near misses, ensuring effective root cause analysis and corrective actions.
  • Track safety performance metrics (e.g., TRIR, DART) and provide data-driven recommendations to leadership.
  • Deliver safety orientation, training, and continuous education programs for employees and subcontractors.
  • Collaborate with project managers, field supervisors, and client representatives to ensure safe execution of all work.
  • Ensure compliance with company and site-specific safety requirements including personal protective equipment (PPE), confined space entry, radiation protection, and lockout/tagout (LOTO).
  • Manage site safety representatives and field safety staff during outage or project periods.
  • Participate in planning meetings, readiness reviews, and safety stand-downs to reinforce expectations and support operational readiness.
  • Support emergency preparedness plans, drills, and responses.

Your Total Rewards Package

The range of base salary for the position is between $112,000 - $152,000, and may also include annual incentives, performance bonuses and benefits. Please note that the base salary range is a guideline, and individual total compensation will vary based on factors such as qualifications, skill level, competencies and work location.
