This Foat Pool Patient Sitter opportunity is full time, part time or per diem, and benefits are offered for full and part time employees. Under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, the Patient Safety Advocate maintains constant visual observation of the assigned patient(s). Assists in the provision of a safe and clean environment. Communicates observations of the patient activity and behavior on a regular basis to the assigned Registered Nurse. Communicates with the patient and family members in a professional manner demonstrating respect for the patient, family, and other health care members. Provides support to peers and staff with other non-clinical duties as assigned.

Job Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Assists the patient with minor daily activities; attends to the needs of the patient (within scope- non clinical).

  • Avoids and prevents injury to self by applying the principles of body mechanics. Maintains a safe environment, functioning with an awareness and application of safety issues identified within the unit/facility.
  • In compliance with information contained within the infection control manual (i.e. OSHA blood borne pathogen standards and CDC guidelines) demonstrates appropriate use of personal protective equipment and handwashing techniques. Follows isolation guidelines.
  • Assists the nurse or CNA with turning the patient and repositions the patient as appropriate

Qualifications

  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Current Basic Life Support Certification within three (3) months of hire date.
  • Training completed with Physical Therapy during orientation on body mechanics and safety while ambulating patients.
