URI is just 30 minutes from Providence, RI and within easy reach of Newport, Boston, and New York City. _________________________________________________________________________________________________ BASIC FUNCTION: The University Investigator plays a key role in resolving complaints of harassment, discrimination, and sexual misconduct within the context of Title IX, Civil Rights, and other non criminal university investigations. The Investigator conducts thorough and impartial formal investigations involving students, faculty, and staff, ensuring compliance with relevant campus policies. Acting as a neutral party, the Investigator provides detailed, unbiased reports and serves as a resource for the university community on issues related to harassment, discrimination, and sexual misconduct. Duties and Responsibilities: ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Conduct fair, unbiased, prompt and thorough investigations into harassment, discrimination, and sexual misconduct cases, from initiation through resolution. Review and analyze all allegations to determine appropriate investigative scope and decide if interim remedial measures are necessary. Collect and analyze relevant evidence, including digital, documentary, and physical materials. Lead witness interviews, assess credibility, analyze witness statements, document findings, and ensure the integrity, independence, and confidentiality of the investigation process. Draft comprehensive and unbiased reports detailing findings and resolutions. Maintain accurate and confidential records of all investigative activities. Provide regular updates to the Title IX Coordinator or designee regarding the status of investigations. Ensure compliance with institutional policies and federal Title IX regulations, including due process protections and equitable treatment of all parties. Collaborate with the Title IX Coordinator and other university stakeholders to ensure a coordinated response. Participate in ongoing training and professional development related to Civil Rights (Title IX, Title VI, Title VII), trauma-informed practices, and investigative procedures. Support educational outreach and prevention initiatives related to sexual misconduct and gender equity. Attend conferences and workshops, stay current with trends in the field, and collaborate with peers. OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: This position may be required to respond to events outside of normal working hours. Perform other duties as required.
