URI is just 30 minutes from Providence, RI and within easy reach of Newport, Boston, and New York City. _________________________________________________________________________________________________ BASIC FUNCTION: Assist in fulfilling the educational mission and goals of the Center for Student Leadership Development (CSLD). Coordinate programs, deliver leadership education and advise students with regard to leadership issues and all aspects of co-curricular and experiential involvement. This position is in-person and on-site. Duties and Responsibilities: ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: In the area of Curricular Functions: Assist in developing, teaching, and assessing leadership courses as assigned. Advise students enrolled in the Leadership Studies minor. In the area of Co-curricular Programming: Coordinate, deliver and assess Sophomore Breakthrough Experience and the Junior Experience leadership programs. Provide support for CSLD co-curricular signature initiatives and engagement opportunities including but not limited to: first-year Leadership Institute, Dr Rose Butler Browne Leadership and Mentoring Program, Student Organization Leadership Consultants. Initiate, coordinate, and assess new programs and strategies to address leadership issues for students, particularly evening and weekend initiatives. Advise URI Circle of Omicron Delta Kappa National Leadership Honor Society. Facilitate adventure-based programs and assist in the maintenance of the North Woods Challenge Course facilities and grounds. Assist in supervising and training staff, graduate students, and undergraduates, in standard and local safety operating procedures, technical skills, risk management, and programming basics for both high and low challenge course venues at the North Woods Challenge Course. Develop and conduct a series of leadership workshops and training programs to address campus needs in leadership issues. Assist in all aspects of implementing the University's leadership programs and services. In the area of Communication, Outreach & Partnerships: Represent the CSLD in such events as Open Houses, Welcome Days, New Student Orientation, and other Division- and University-wide programs. Assist in creating an atmosphere for personal and academic growth for the student population. Encourage and assist students in getting involved and engaged in campus life and offer support services. Serve as a resource person for the campus and advisors in regard to leadership development. Advise student groups and organizations in a manner that demonstrates support and advocacy for student issues. Foster and sustain collaborative partnerships that actively engage departments in the development of programs and services addressing key leadership issues. Support the management of social media accounts and the development of marketing and communications materials to enhance outreach and engagement. In the area of Administration & Assessment: Supervise undergraduate and graduate students. Conduct assessment and research to identify student leadership needs, evaluate the impact of leadership experiences on student development, and measure organizational effectiveness. OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Create and support interventions which promote service learning and student community service opportunities. Serve on departmental, division of Student Affairs, and University-wide committees. Perform additional duties as requested. LICENSES, TOOLS, AND EQUIPMENT: Personal computers, printers and word processing, database management and spreadsheet software; Microsoft Suite, Google Suite, learning management platforms, video conference platforms, other technology and training as required. Challenge course gear and equipment, maintenance tools and equipment, climb up to 50 feet and lift up to 50 pounds. Maintain or obtain certification in high element technical skills and rescue.
