Mission Contribution: Ensure the efficient and accurate movement of donations to and from internal and external partners, maximizing the value of each donation to support the mission of Goodwill Industries of the Valleys. Summary: Reporting to the Director of Sustainability & Logistics, the Manager of Sustainability & Logistics oversees logistics operations, post-retail recycling, and the movement of goods and supplies with internal and external partners. This role supports aftermarket activities and ensures efficiency, accuracy, and effectiveness in all sustainability and logistics functions. Essential Functions:
- Ensure donated goods and supplies are distributed to all locations in a timely, efficient, and safe manner to drive revenue within the Donated Goods business segment.
- Partner with the Director and Safety Department to enforce safety requirements at warehouse facilities by fostering a strong safety culture, maintaining accountability with site supervision, and overseeing logistics staff for operational efficiency.
- Lead recycling and sustainability initiatives to achieve revenue goals and reduce waste.
- Ensure the truck fleet complies with OSHA, DOT, traffic, safety, security, and regulatory standards, report deficiencies to the fleet vendor and Director.
- Develop and maintain truck schedules that optimize operational needs, using GPS and other tools to support efficiency and accountability.
- Maintain accurate and current preventative maintenance records for all fleet vehicles and warehouse equipment, including forklifts and balers.
- Provide warehousing and collections support to the Director of Sustainability & Logistics.
- Collaborate with departmental directors to ensure timely delivery of goods to retail stores in alignment with budget goals.
- Ensure accurate daily reporting of donations received from bins, events, and business partners; submit reports promptly.
- Report and submit all vehicle incident and accident documentation to the Safety & Workers Comp Specialist and Director of Sustainability & Logistics.
- Deliver exceptional customer service to all internal and external partners.
- Pursue professional growth through training opportunities and independent learning to strengthen knowledge of logistics and business operations.
- Foster a positive, team-oriented work environment by motivating and coaching team members, encouraging collaboration, and driving performance toward departmental goals.
- Plan and prepare work schedules, ensuring adequate coverage, accurate timekeeping, and efficient operations.
- Conduct performance reviews, provide constructive feedback and set goals for improvement and development.
- Document and implement coaching/corrective actions: Identify performance issues, develop and execute improvement plans, ensure compliance with policies and procedures, and foster ongoing professional development to enhance overall team effectiveness.
- Ensure all staff are properly trained within established timelines, equipping them to meet organizational goals while contributing to succession planning and organizational success.
- Promote a positive workplace culture by fostering morale, providing training, and holding all team members accountable for their roles and adherence to Goodwill's policies.
- Attend training sessions, meetings, and company-related events as required.
- Perform other duties as assigned by Management.
- Adhere to all Goodwill policies and procedures.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Proficiency in digital literacy, including basic computer skills and experience with Microsoft Office, PowerPoint, Outlook, and company-specific software tools.
- Strong written communication skills with the ability to effectively read, write, and create reports and professional business correspondence.
- Effective verbal communication skills, including the ability to present information clearly and respond to questions from supervisors, team members, and customers.
- Basic mathematical proficiency, including the ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.
- Interpersonal skills to develop and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, team members, and internal and external customers.
- Positive and friendly attitude, contributing to a collaborative work environment and enhancing team morale.
- Ability to lead, motivate, and coach team members to accomplish goals and maintain a positive team atmosphere.
Required Certificates, Licenses, Registrations, Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience in inventory management systems, logistics, and/or experience in large truck operations is required.
- Familiarity with using inventory management software or systems to track product and truck movements and manage warehouse operations is preferred.
- Must be able to successfully complete any assigned Goodwill training within the required period of time upon employment.
- CPR certification
- Forklift certification
- Forklift Trainer certification
Special Requirements:
- Personal vehicle usage is required for this position, including a reliable vehicle, a valid driver's license, and the ability to provide proof of insurance for driving on company business.
- An acceptable motor vehicle record, based on Goodwill guidelines, is required for driving a personal or company vehicle.
- Must provide a cell phone for specified work responsibilities, including the use of a phone-based application for authentication.
- Must successfully complete a state background investigation and drug screen.

- Warehouse and transportation environment.
- Ability to travel frequently to multiple locations and overnight as needed.

- While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to heat, cold, and adverse weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is typically moderate to loud.
