Position Overview

QinetiQ US seeks a skilled Mid-Level Statistician to support a federal law enforcement agency client operations. This role is responsible for analyzing and interpreting complex data sets related to the agency, providing statistical insights, and driving data-informed decision-making processes that support the Law Enforcement Lifecycle.

Your expertise in statistical analysis, data management, and reporting will be instrumental in optimizing agency operations, identifying trends in law enforcement data, and supporting strategic initiatives. You will work closely with federal stakeholders to ensure data quality, develop performance metrics, and provide actionable insights for policy formulation and operational planning.



Responsibilities

Statistical Analysis & Data Interpretation

    Collect, analyze, and interpret large and complex agency data sets from various law enforcement systems and sources
  • Apply statistical techniques, data mining, and predictive modeling to extract meaningful insights from law enforcement data
  • Identify patterns, correlations, and relationships within agency data to inform strategic decisions and policy formulation
  • Support development and validation of Discrete Event Simulation (DES) models for Law Enforcement operations
  • Conduct statistical validation of agency decision support tools and forecasting methodologies
  • Assist in the professional and technical development of fellow staff

Data Quality & Integrity Support

  • Support agency staff in identifying potential agency data quality issues and develop statistical methods to resolve them
  • Perform statistical analysis to evaluate data accuracy, completeness, and consistency across agency systems
  • Develop and implement statistical quality assurance processes for data validation
  • Support audits of agency Dashboards to ensure statistical accuracy and data integrity
  • Apply statistical methods to identify and address historical data errors and anomalies

Reporting & Visualization

  • Develop and generate statistical reports, dashboards, and visualizations to communicate insights to agency leadership and federal stakeholders
  • Create executive-level statistical summaries and briefings for agency decision-makers
  • Present statistical findings in clear, actionable formats tailored to various audiences
  • Support documentation of statistical methodologies in Confluence and other platforms
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure statistical reports meet federal requirements

Performance Measurement & KPI Development

  • Design and develop key performance indicators (KPIs) to track and measure agency operational performance
  • Apply statistical methods to establish benchmarks and targets for immigration enforcement metrics
  • Conduct statistical analysis of performance trends and identify areas for operational improvement
  • Support streamlined reporting on key performance indicators across agency enterprise
  • Validate statistical accuracy of performance dashboards and reporting tools

Advanced Statistical Analysis

  • Support predictive analytics and modeling initiatives for agency resource allocation and planning
  • Apply advanced statistical techniques including regression analysis, time series analysis, and multivariate statistics
  • Utilize statistical programming languages such as R, Python, and SQL for complex data analysis
  • Support geospatial statistical analysis for law enforcement operations
  • Assist in developing statistical models for logistics optimization and decision support

Data Management & Automation

  • Create statistical tools and automated processes using SQL, Python, R, and other platforms
  • Support development of data pipelines ensuring statistical validity and accuracy
  • Implement statistical data cleaning, transformation, and validation processes
  • Support extract, transform, load (ETL) operations with statistical quality checks
  • Collaborate with agency staff on statistical automation tools and data quality monitoring

Stakeholder Collaboration

  • Work closely with federal staff to understand analytical requirements
  • Support analytics and reporting requirements meetings with statistical expertise
  • Provide statistical consultation and guidance to agency stakeholders
  • Support training activities on statistical concepts and data interpretation
  • Serve as statistical subject matter expert for cross-unit collaboration


Required Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Statistics, Applied Statistics, Mathematics, Data Science, Biostatistics, or related quantitative field
  • 3+ years of experience in statistical analysis, preferably in federal or law enforcement environments
  • Experience with government data systems and federal reporting requirements preferred

Technical Skills

  • Strong expertise in statistical analysis techniques, statistical modeling, and hypothesis testing
  • Proficiency in statistical programming languages including R, Python, and SQL
  • Experience with statistical software packages such as SAS, SPSS, Stata, or similar applications
  • Familiarity with data visualization tools including Tableau, Power BI, or similar platforms
  • Understanding of database management principles and data quality assurance methods
  • Experience with statistical validation and quality control processes

Analytical Skills

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with ability to translate complex statistical findings into actionable insights
  • Experience with predictive modeling, time series analysis, and multivariate statistical techniques
  • Understanding of experimental design and statistical inference principles
  • Ability to conduct statistical audits and data validation processes
  • Experience with performance measurement and statistical benchmarking

Communication & Collaboration

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for presenting statistical concepts to technical and non-technical audiences
  • Proven ability to work with cross-functional teams and federal stakeholders
  • Experience creating statistical documentation and training materials
  • Ability to manage multiple statistical projects and priorities simultaneously
  • Strong attention to detail with focus on statistical accuracy and reliability
Security Requirements
  • Ability to obtain and maintain appropriate federal security clearance.
  • Background investigation required.
  • Must be U.S. citizen.


Preferred Qualifications

Specialized Experience

  • Experience supporting federal law enforcement or homeland security agencies
  • Background in law enforcement, border security, or related law enforcement domains
  • Experience with DHS systems and law enforcement operational data
  • Knowledge of federal data governance and compliance requirements

Advanced Technical Skills

  • Experience with advanced statistical techniques such as machine learning, Bayesian analysis, or spatial statistics
  • Familiarity with Databricks, Oracle (OBIEE/OAS), and UiPath automation tools
  • Experience with geospatial analysis and ArcGIS statistical tools
  • Knowledge of data mining techniques and big data analytics
  • Experience with cloud-based statistical computing platforms

Professional Development

  • Professional certifications in statistical analysis or data science
  • Experience with statistical consulting or advisory roles
  • Publication or presentation experience in statistical analysis
  • Training experience in statistical methods or data analysis
