Classification: Non-Exempt
Reports To: Workforce Development Manager
Supervises: This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities

Goodwill of Western Missouri & Eastern Kansas has a rich, 130+ year history, serving the community in Kansas City and the surrounding areas since 1894. Many people know Goodwill for our thrift stores, but few know the impact of the mission behind those stores. Summary
The Outreach & Enrollment Specialist builds and maintains relationships with community members, referral partners, and employers to expand Goodwill's participant pipeline. This position conducts outreach and recruitment activities, represents Goodwill at events, and supports participants through the enrollment and eligibility process. The specialist also works with employers to identify hiring needs, generate job leads, and create placement opportunities in collaboration with Workforce Development Specialists (WDS).
Essential Functions


  • Conduct outreach to community members and referral partners to increase awareness of Goodwill programs and recruit participants.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with employers to understand hiring needs, secure job leads, and create placement opportunities that support workforce solutions.
  • Collaborate with Workforce Development Specialists (WDS) by sharing employer leads, communicating client needs, and matching participants with appropriate employers and open positions.
  • Conduct follow-up at 30-, 60-, and 90-day intervals with employers and clients to monitor job retention and address any challenges.
  • Stay current on local labor market trends and participate in professional development opportunities to enhance engagement strategies.
  • Collect feedback from clients, employers, and partners to make recommendations for improving programs and services.
  • Represent Goodwill at community events, job fairs, hiring events, and employer meetings to strengthen partnerships and increase participation.
  • Screen applicants, collect eligibility documentation, and complete enrollment and assessments.
  • Provide accurate information about Goodwill services and connect participants to appropriate community resources.
  • Accurately enter, update, and audit participant and partner information in Salesforce and other systems to ensure compliance.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to meet outreach, enrollment, and employer engagement goals.
  • Support participants with assessments, applications, and other technology or job readiness tasks.
  • Participate in staff meetings and assist with projects and departmental initiatives as assigned.


Work Environment
This job operates in varied environments, which may include store, warehouse, mobile workforce unit, and office. Work environments will include indoor and outdoor locations with potential weather extremes. This role routinely operates office equipment.
Physical Demand
The physical demands described here are representative of those that an employee must meet to perform the essential functions of this job successfully. This is an active role. The employee must have the ability to communicate verbally and apply active listening skills, lift up to 25 pounds, bend, and possibly stand for prolonged periods of time as necessary.


Position Type/Expected Hours of Work/Travel


This is a full-time, non-exempt position. Office hours are generally Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.; however, some flexibility of the schedule is permissible with the supervisor's approval. As a non-exempt position, occasional night-time or weekend work will be required. Occasional daytime travel to supported locations is required.
The Ideal Candidate will have:
Minimum:


  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Windows OS, electronic data entry, and internet research tools
  • Reliable transportation, a clean MVR, a valid driver's license, and insurance for company-related travel


Preferred:


  • Some college or relevant work experience in workforce development, social services, or related field
  • Strong time management skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to motivate clients and address crisis situations effectively
  • Knowledge of challenges faced by marginalized communities
  • Experience building and maintaining relationships with partner agencies and employers
  • Respect for diversity of thought and demonstrated commitment to equity and inclusion
  • Flexibility in scheduling and willingness to cross-train across Mission Services
