The Director, Strategic Analytics is responsible for designing, developing, deploying, and maintaining advanced, self-service analytic products in support of all Strategy and Growth functions and supporting enterprise-level priority areas. He/she will lead a team of individuals with skillsets including business intelligence development and advanced analytics, extract / transform / load work, and database administration.
The role entails leveraging a strategic and analytical background to advance a product roadmap that is ahead of organizational needs, while meeting the current analytic and reporting demands of the team. Analytic product inputs range from market-based datasets - including demographics, service line utilization, market share, referral patterns, etc. - through all key internal datasets - including growth, finance, access, quality, service, etc.
This role ensures an efficient portfolio of solutions that make use of these broad datasets for needs ranging from opportunity identification through planning, metric / target development, and benefits realization, and will include support for major initiatives and transformational projects for the broader enterprise.

Minimum Qualifications - For full consideration, applicants are encouraged to upload license and/or certification if required of the position
- Bachelor's degree in related disciplinary field such as Health Care Administration or Business Administration, or a closely related field with three to five years of experience in health care strategy or a combination of education and experience
- Several years demonstrated analysis experience using advanced statistical and other quantitative methods
- Several years supervisor or management experience and demonstrated skills necessary to be responsible for designing, planning, executing, and maintaining a portfolio of self-service analytic solutions for strategy and growth functions.
- Demonstrated management experience specific to healthcare analytics, including managing the full life cycle of related custom analytic applications. Demonstrated ability to measure product ROI throughout the product lifecycle. Skills and experience to translate nontechnical business requirements into actionable quantitative projects/insights Strong technical experience with applications supporting the creation of analytic applications - covering areas of data management, extraction / transformation / loading, and visualization (examples - SQL, Hadoop, Informatica, Tableau). Cloud experience desired. Expert data visualization and user interface / user experience design required - including expert capabilities in Tableau and MS Excel Fluent knowledge of data capabilities from healthcare provider information systems (e.g. EPIC Clarity / Hadoop, EPSi, Salesforce, ERP systems) and demonstrated ability to work with functional owners to collaborate on solutions (e.g. IT, Finance, Pop Health) Expert collaboration skills and experience with stakeholder management and prioritizing many data analytics requests Experience partnering with performance management teams on analytic application design to deploy solutions with proven operational improvement / measurable ROI. Strong experience in evolving solutions to match changes in required leading and lagging performance metrics through initiative lifecycles. Proven ability to execute on department requirements through contracted resources - ranging from consulting support through contracted task orders. Highly effective written and verbal communication skills, including with senior leadership and customers Demonstrated skills and experience to manage and oversee market analytics staff - technical, analytical and intelligence skillsets - and influence cross-functional teams with diverse functional disciplines Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills to manage complex information, assess problems, and develop effective solutions
Preferred Qualifications
- Masters degree or higher in Health Care Administration, Business Administration, Business Analytics or related field.
- Highly developed knowledge and experience in healthcare strategy, finance, and operational analytics. Past experience in for-profit, non-profit, and start up environments. Demonstrated experience in large academic healthcare setting with knowledge of or ability to learn UC Davis Health organization, structure, clinical, research, and administrative departments.
