Job Description Summary:

The Test Equipment Development group within the Production, Mission, Operations and Enhancements division at Draper is seeking a Principal LabVIEW Test Equipment Development Engineer to lead multidisciplinary strategic systems test equipment development, providing full system lifecycle development and management of complex electrical, mechanical and software-based test equipment.

Responsibilities include:

*Lead the development of test equipment or system testing through the product lifecycle
*Gain a strong understanding of the Unit Under Test to derive test equipment requirements, design, and architecture
*Utilize and drive Model Based Systems Engineering approaches for open/flexible architectures to be used across programs and units under test
*Generate plans for the development, maintenance, and upgrade of hardware and software for new and existing test equipment systems
*Lead internal and external collaborative development environments
*Apply strong systems engineering principles to product or test equipment development processes could include leading all aspects of Integration & Test and data package development and release

Key job elements include the ability to engage with customers and translate requirements and functions to test equipment designs for any of the following:

oHighly accurate strategic sensors
oInertial navigation systems
oFault tolerant computing
oEnhanced ground testing
oIntegration and test environments
oEngineering qualification, surveillance, and factory acceptance test equipment architecture (e.g. rate tables, centrifuges)

Job Description:

Duties/Responsibilities
* Manage and control priorities, scope, schedule, and cost to baselines by proactively monitoring program/task performance across larger activities.
* Independently derive system-level I&T requirements based on mission requirements and defines plans, approaches, and detailed test procedures to solve complex I&T problems.
* Helps customers understand and adequately mitigate and resolve I&T risks and issues.
* Subject Matter Expert (SME) able to develop and implement I&T approaches through a program lifecycle.
* Identify program/system-level I&T technical risks and develop and execute mitigation strategies.
* Develop, document, and teach best practices to less experienced engineers. Demonstrate strong organization, planning, and time management skills to achieve program goals.
* Performs other duties as assigned.

Education
Requires a bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering, Applied Physics, or related field.

Experience
Requires 7-10 years in Systems Engineering or relevant role.

Additional Job Description:

  • Certified LabVIEW architect or developer with deep knowledge on instruments, communications, and data flow using NI based, COTS or specialized instrumented solutions
  • The ideal candidate will be self-motivated and capable of working at a high technical level with strong ability to lead teams and collaborate across internal and external functional boundaries
  • Experience in developing and documenting related activities (plans, procedures, software or hardware design documentation)
  • Experience and proven skills related to working in a process driven environment, while complying with procedures
  • Excellent communication, collaborative, and interpersonal skills
  • Experience working with lab equipment (scopes, meters, power supplies), Hardware in the Loop, embedded software development, or support to production

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in any of the following areasisa plus:
    • Inertial instruments
    • GN&C systems
    • Missile systems
    • Air defense
    • Factory test equipment,
    • System test and verification
    • Data acquisition and analysis
    • Control theory
    • System modeling and test
    • Integration and test of HW and SW elements
    • Electronics-based test of components and/or subassemblies

The US base salary range for this full-time position is

$95,000.00 - $237,500.00

Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Union ranges will be in compliance with the collective bargaining agreement's approved rates by location and role.
