Hiring Department Life Sciences Center Job Description The Research Specialist II will be a part of the Dr. Chris Lorson Lab in the Bond Life Sciences Center. This position will support several externally funded projects including a NIH R01 focused upon the genetics and biochemistry of neurodegenerative diseases such as SMA with respiratory distress and CMT. This individual will work with recombinant protein to study the kinetics of various protein/protein interactions, express/purify protein, run western blots etc. Additionally, the position will do microscopy work, participate in the mouse colony maintenance for breeding, genoytping etc. Working on ongoing gene therapy experiments and/or other therapeutics will be required. Successful candidates will be persuasive communicators with exceptional organizational and time management skills. They must demonstrate the following durable skills: leadership, character, collaboration, communication, creativity, critical thinking, metacognition, mindfulness, growth mindset, and fortitude. Additionally, customer service, confidentiality and integrity in their activities. Must be available for reliable and consistent onsite work. Shift Monday-Friday, 8am - 5pm Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience and at least 1 year of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary. Preferred Qualifications 5 years experience in research lab, neuroscience, biochemistry, or respiration experience preferred.
