Area Superintendent

This position is in support of the Strategic Partnership program, based out of Jacksonville, FL.

The next step in support of the Virginia Class and Columbia construction process is executing "Build to EB Paper" in a Supplier environment at a supplier facility. EB is looking for an experienced Area Superintendent to be part of the new Embedded Team located in Jacksonville, Florida. This effort would be in support of Virginia and Columbia Class Decks. This EB position will manage and oversee the work content, means and methods of fabrication, utilizing vendor personnel as embedded EB employees. This position will report to the Site Manager. The Area Superintendent will manage the performance of the group's Safety, Quality, Cost, Schedule, and Continuous Improvement. The Area Superintendent shall be responsible for developing good work practices, developing and maintaining EB culture, assisting with process improvements, and ensuring assigned supplier personnel conform to all regulatory/EB requirements. The Area Superintendent will be responsible for providing fabrication metrics in support of Breakfast Club meetings. The Area Superintendent will monitor employees training and required qualifications using the established training records system:

Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

Must possess energetic and positive attitude and be willing to change and develop as requirements of assigned tasks dictate.
• Manage and direct the daily activities of multiple operations supervisors to achieve department, facility, program and organizational objectives.
• Oversee and manage the technical work execution, safety, quality, cost, schedule, continuous improvement and lessons learned.
• Will be responsible for interfacing with QP's steel fabrication team on a regular basis to communicate a strategic build plan, performance, project support needs and lessons learned.
• Ability to motivate, guide, mentor and oversee first line supervision. Must demonstrate effective steel processing & outfitting problem solving skills.
• Be responsible for the transfer of knowledge to supplier supervision and employees.
• Ensure EB practices, means and methods are taught and employed in performance of the work and will actively guiding and mentor.
• Monitor work orders, sign offs and work package completion. Validate that all work performed is completed and fully compliant to support the product's end use.
• Monitor Operation Supervisors pre-job briefs and job hazard analysis to ensure expectations are established, maintained and held for assigned work.
• Monitor Cornerstone & PQS for required training and certifications compliance prior to the commencement of work. Maintain communication with Strategic Sourcing Training Department for any new/refresh items.
• Ensure EB supervisors promote and adhere to the importance of a strong security posture with embedded supplier personnel. Must diligently manage any sensitive data.
• Gain the trust and collaboration of the supplier management and embedded personnel. Must assess and make recommendations for employee development and continually promote proficiency in work.
• Work with EB supervisors to monitor and identify issues and refer them to supplier supervision for HR resolution.
• Must be able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing with subordinates, supervisors, suppliers and EB leadership.
• Must have the ability to set, assign, and measure daily production goals, provide technical expertise, instruct, mentor and motivate crew.
• Position will be located in Jacksonville, Florida supporting Strategic Partnership (work to EB paper) programs at EB supplier facilities.
• Employee may be required to work other than normal hours, to include evenings, weekends, and/or holidays. Shift work and emergence overtime may be required.
• Successful applicants will be placed in a department and shift based on business necessity.
• Must be flexible to travel to additional Strategic Partnership vendors, Groton, QP and other areas of the business, as required. May require business travel or EWA.

Required:

• High School diploma/GED
• Must have 3+ years of previous supervisory experience
• Must have 5+ years of structural shipyard construction experience in Shipfitting, Welding and Fabrication
• Demonstrated leadership skills
• Proficient in blueprint and drawing interpretation
• Experience with Ships Drawings, SSPs, SPs, Technical Manuals, Welding Technique Sheets, EWP, ERS, ERs, NDT, MDDs, SDDs, DIs and SIs.
• Experienced in Computer Skills, MS Office/Word, Power Point and Project
• Must be available to work all shifts and extended hours as business needs dictate
• Must be available to travel, as required

Preferred:

• College Degree. AS/BS degree in Business, Engineering or equivalent
• Experience in Modular Construction/outfitting
• Experience in multi-trade disciplines is preferred (pipe, electrical, structural, mechanical)
