The Department of English at Rutgers University, New Brunswick, invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in film and media studies. We seek candidates with strong teaching records and compelling research profiles. We particularly welcome applications from scholars whose research combines expertise in film with theoretical commitments to media more broadly conceived that complement departmental strengths.
The appointment is expected to begin on September 1, 2026. All job offers are contingent upon successful pre-employment background screening prior to commencement of employment. Applicants must have demonstrated a commitment to effective teaching and mentoring and the ability to maintain an active research program. The successful candidate will have a 2-2 course load and teach a range of film and media courses at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.

Immunization Requirements
Under Policy 100.3.1 Immunization Policy for Covered Individuals, if employment will commence during Flu Season, Rutgers University may require certain prospective employees to provide proof that they are vaccinated against Seasonal Influenza for the current Flu Season, unless the University has granted the individual a medical or religious exemption.
