Job Summary:

As a Lead Structural Designer for Offshore Floating Production Facilities, you will take a leadership role in the creation and maintenance of detailed structural drawings and documentation for floating production platforms, FPSOs, and other offshore oil and gas facilities. You will be responsible for guiding a team of drafters, ensuring the accurate representation of structural designs, and collaborating closely with engineers and architects to meet project goals. Your role is critical in the development of construction and fabrication plans for these complex offshore structures.

Key Responsibilities:
Drafting Supervision:

  • Lead and oversee a team of structural designers, providing guidance and mentorship to ensure accurate and high-quality drawings.
  • Assign tasks, set priorities, and monitor progress to meet project deadlines.

Drawing and Documentation:

  • Create 2D and 3D drawings, schematics, and plans for structural components, such as decks, hulls, support structures, and mooring systems.
  • Ensure that all drawings are consistent, follow design specifications, and comply with industry standards and regulations.

Collaboration with Engineers:

  • Work closely with structural engineers and architects to understand design requirements and translate them into detailed drawings.
  • Address design revisions and incorporate feedback into drafting work.

Software Proficiency:

  • Utilize computer-aided design (CAD) software, such as AutoCAD and other drafting tools, to create and revise drawings.

Documentation Management:

  • Organize, catalog, and manage all design documentation, ensuring that it is easily accessible to project teams and for future reference.

Quality Assurance:

  • Conduct quality control reviews to verify the accuracy and completeness of drafted materials.
  • Address and rectify any errors or discrepancies in drawings.

Regulatory Compliance:

  • Ensure that all drafting work adheres to industry codes, standards, and regulatory requirements.
    Innovation and Efficiency:
  • Explore opportunities to improve drafting processes and stay updated on industry best practices and emerging technologies.

Training and Development:

  • Provide training and support to junior drafters, fostering their professional growth and ensuring a capable and efficient team.

Qualifications:

  • Diploma or associate degree in Drafting Technology or a related field.
  • Minimum of twenty years of experience in the field with minimum of eight years as a lead designer.
  • Extensive experience in structural drafting, with a focus on offshore or marine projects.
  • Proficiency in CAD software, such as AutoCAD, and familiarity with 3D modeling tools.
  • Knowledge of industry-specific drafting standards and practices
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Effective leadership and communication abilities.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team.
  • Problem-solving skills and the ability to meet tight deadlines.
