Overview and Responsibilities

Summary

We are seeking a dedicated Pharmacist in Charge to join our team. In this role you are required to have a pharmacist licensed with extensive experience in pharmacy operations and regulatory compliance. In this position, you are responsible for providing active license information to the Board of Pharmacy and holding the liability of Pharmacist in Charge for Rotech Healthcare.

This position will be in office for 4 eight hour days a week(32 hours).

Position Summary:
The Pharmacist in Charge (PIC) is responsible for overseeing all pharmacy operations, ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations, and maintaining the highest standards of patient care. The PIC will lead a team of pharmacy professionals and collaborate with clinical and operational teams to support our diabetic division.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable pharmacy laws, regulations, and accreditation standards.
  • Manage inventory, dispensing, and documentation of medications and supplies.
  • Supervise pharmacy staff to ensure proper training and performance management.
  • Maintain accurate records and ensure timely reporting to regulatory bodies.
  • Ensure full compliance with federal and state laws, HIPAA, OSHA, and all Board of Pharmacy requirements specific to diabetes supplies (Insulin, GLP-1s, CGMs etc.).
  • Oversee quality assurance and continuous improvement initiatives like implementing policies for cold-chain handling of insulin and other temperature-sensitive products.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for pharmacy audits and inspections.
  • Provide continuous updates on the policies and procedures manual that sets forth a detailed description of how the operations will comply with applicable federal, state/local laws or administrative regulations.
  • Provide patient counseling and individualized medication therapy management (MTM) for diabetes medications, including Insulin, GLP-1 receptor agonists, and oral hypoglycemics.
  • Educate patients on proper use of diabetes-related devices-continuous glucose monitors (CGMs), insulin pumps, and glucose meters.
  • Offer point-of-care services such as glucose testing, blood pressure screening, and lifestyle coaching when needed as permitted by state regulations.
  • Collaborate with physicians, endocrinologists, and other healthcare providers to optimize glycemic control and reduce diabetes complications and prior authorizations for therapies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree from an accredited institution.
  • Active and unrestricted pharmacist license in the state of practice.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a pharmacy leadership role, preferably in diabetic specialty.
  • Strong knowledge of diabetic medications, equipment and therapies.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Familiarity with pharmacy software systems and electronic health records.
  • Certified to administer immunizations.
Preferred Experience:
  • Experience and knowledge on latest Diabetic therapies, pump equipment, continuous glucose monitoring systems.
  • Knowledge of diabetes medications and related equipment protocols.
  • Experience with prior authorization process for specialty medications.
  • Prior experience managing pharmacy operations in a home delivery based setting.

Qualifications

Employment is contingent on

  • Background investigation (company-wide)
  • Drug screen (when applicable for the position)
  • Valid driver's license in state of residence with a clean driving record (when applicable for the position)

Education and/or Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree/Phar.D. Degree from an accredited College of Pharmacy or successful completion of the Foreign Pharmacy Graduate qualification examination administered by the National Association of Boards of Pharmacy (NABP), required
  • Required to have a current pharmacist's license in good standing

  • Travel to the locations at least four times every year
