  • We are expanding our dermatology practice for Licensed Practical Nurses and Medical Assistant's.
  • Rate of pay is based on designation and experience.

Provides support with the daily activities of a medical office by performing the following duties and other duties as assigned. May be required to work overtime during peak periods.


Responsibilities

MA Duties:

The Dermatology Medical Assistant provides clinical and administrative support to dermatologists and nurses in both medical and cosmetic dermatology settings. This role involves assisting with dermatologic procedures, preparing patients and treatment rooms, and ensuring an exceptional patient experience. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, professional, and passionate about skin health and aesthetics.

Clinical Support:

  • Prepare patients and exam rooms for dermatologic and cosmetic procedures.
  • Assist providers during medical procedures such as:
    • Skin biopsies
    • Excisions
    • Cryotherapy
    • Suture removal and wound care
  • Hand instruments, set up trays, and maintain sterile technique during procedures.
  • Apply and remove dressings as directed by the provider.
  • Administer topical medications or local anesthesia as directed and permitted by law.
  • Document patient information, procedures, and treatments accurately in the EHR.
  • Maintain and sterilize medical instruments and equipment.

Patient Care & Coordination:

  • Welcome and prepare patients for examination or treatment.
  • Obtain and document medical histories, allergies, and current medications.
  • Ensure patient comfort and privacy throughout the visit.
  • Educate patients on basic skin care, treatment expectations, and follow-up instructions (as directed).
  • Support a clean, organized, and efficient clinical environment.

The Dermatology LPN supports the dermatologist in providing high-quality medical and cosmetic dermatologic care. This position involves assisting with clinical procedures such as biopsies, excisions, and injections, as well as performing or assisting with cosmetic and laser treatments. The ideal candidate is compassionate, detail-oriented, and able to maintain a calm, professional demeanor in a fast-paced clinical environment.

LPN Duties:

Clinical Duties:

  • Prepare patients and treatment rooms for dermatologic procedures.
  • Assist the physician with medical procedures, including:
    • Skin biopsies
    • Excisions
    • Cryotherapy
    • Intralesional and cosmetic injections
  • Administer injections as directed by the physician (e.g., local anesthesia, intralesional, or cosmetic injectables).
  • Apply and remove dressings, sutures, and wound care materials.
  • Document procedures, treatments, and patient interactions accurately in the medical record.

Cosmetic & Laser Procedures:

  • Perform or assist with cosmetic treatments such as chemical peels, microneedling, and light-based therapies.
  • Operate and maintain laser and energy-based devices (training provided).
  • Educate patients on pre- and post-procedure care and answer questions about cosmetic treatments.

Patient Care & Coordination:

  • Greet and prepare patients for evaluation and procedures.
  • Obtain and document medical histories and treatment consents.
  • Provide patient education on diagnoses, medications, and home care instructions.
  • Support the provider in maintaining a high standard of safety and patient satisfaction.

Education and Experience

MA:

Graduate of a medical assistant program accredited by the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES) or the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP), or graduate of a medical assistant program in a post secondary school or college that has institutional accreditation by a regional accrediting commission or by a national accrediting organization approved by the U.S. Department of Education, or a graduate of an educational program accredited by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA), such as the National Healthcareer Association (NHA). Experience in a program with a clinical rotation preferred.

AAMA or NHA certification preferred.

LPN:

LPN Education and Experience

Graduate of an accredited LPN Program OR

Wisconsin: Have completed the portion of the RN Program needed to obtain a certificate of completion in practical nursing.

Illinois: Have completed the designated curriculum of a Ladder Option Approved Designated RN Program.

Experience in clinical setting preferred.

LPN Certification and Licensure

Licensed as an LPN in the State of Practice
Approved CPR or BLS certification within 90 days
