Job Summary The Reinsurance Senior Analyst, working under limited supervision, is responsible for collecting, preparing, and analyzing complex data to drive reinsurance operations decisions, including reinsurance placements, catastrophe exposure examination, and reinsurance recovery. The role also makes recommendations to the Reinsurance Manager addressing reinsurance, catastrophe risk management, and product development initiatives that are designed to accomplish business objectives. This role is also responsible for catastrophe risk modeling including exposure data management and preparation, execution of catastrophe modeling and extraction of output, and interpretation and analysis of results to achieve business objectives. Job Responsibilities
- Collects, analyzes, and maintains reinsurance renewal submission data and records.
- Makes recommendations to improve quality and availability of reinsurance related data.
- Maintains accurate data input for catastrophe exposure monitoring and models; prepares, tests, and analyzes modeling data and results; makes recommendations to improve data quality; applies catastrophe management solutions.
- Analyzes catastrophe exposures and collaborates with underwriting leaders to assist with managing their catastrophe exposures (e.g., hurricane, earthquake, tornado/hail, and terrorism); provides solutions and tools to address complex issues.
- Monitors, reviews, and analyzes large losses and catastrophe losses to identify trends that would impact the reinsurance program and to ensure compliance with contractual reporting requirements.
- Responds to inquiries from various units regarding reinsurance contracts, facultative reinsurance issues, premium and claim inquiries, and processing and procedural issues; provides reinsurance training to new hires and underwriting staff.
- Monitors the rendering of premium and loss accounts, commissions, reinsurance collections and collateral management; prepares, processes, and renders catastrophe reinsurance program billing statements.
- Prepares annual reinsurance budget, periodic variance analysis and reports for senior management, governmental and rating agencies relating to reinsurance programs, catastrophe losses, and modeling results.
- Monitors compliance withguidelines and procedures by various departments for placement of reinsurance; takes action to resolve issues.
- Works with reinsurers and both internal and external accounting departments to coordinate reinsurance transaction issues.
- Responds to inquiries from various units regarding reinsurance contracts, facultative reinsurance issues, premium and claim inquiries, and processing and procedural issues; provides reinsurance training to new hires and underwriting staff.
- Creates the appropriate insured and reinsurance calculations, in multiple currencies, in first from weekly feeds for payments and reserves.
- Provides suggestions for process improvements; identifies and solves problems, removes barriers to ensure accuracy of unit work product.
Job Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience in Reinsurance or a related field.
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting, Economics, or a related field and/or commensurate experience.
