Core Responsibilities
Production employees at Smithfield handle materials and use hand tools, knives, machinery, and equipment to help deliver good food responsibly to America's dinner table. Production team members at Smithfield perform physically demanding work that requires good hand-eye coordination, attention to detail, strength and stamina. Team members must be available to work scheduled hours, which may include mandatory overtime, depending upon production demands.

Qualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals to perform the essential functions.

All applicants must be at least 18 years of age.

  • Put together equipment, help with line set up, blow out plugs with airline hose
  • Weigh rework and record information on proper documentation.
  • Take empty used carts directly to cart wash for washing.
  • Maintain a steady flow of product into the stuffer to minimize down time.
  • Assist on the line when possible to help reduce down time.
  • Communicate with Processing Machine Operator and line personnel to reduce the amount of preventable rejected product.
  • Take apart equipment at the end of run for sanitation crew.
  • Wash equipment as needed for product changeovers.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
  • Follow our food safety process.
  • Turn in paper work at the end of the day to the correct person and or utilize correct reporting tools or system
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor or manager
  • Follow USDA/SQF and GMP guidelines
  • Stay focused on quality while maintaining speed
  • Be able to work in a 38F environment
  • Ability to stand 8+ hours per day
  • Able to lift up 50 lbs.
  • Able to push/pull up to 500 lbs.
