Department Summary Founded in 1985, the Hospitality, Event and Tourism Management Program (HETM) at UNT is one of the largest and best-known programs of its kind in the U.S. In addition, UNT is ranked among the nation's 115 top-tier research universities, according to the Carnegie Classification of Institutions of Higher Education. Position Overview The Hospitality Tourism Department at the University of North Texas is seeking to hire a Administrative Coordinator to join our team. Responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to: Manage the administrative operations for the Department of Hospitality, Event and Tourism Management. Provide direct support to the Chair of the department, including recommending and implementing policies and procedures. Responsible for oversight of department budget, including reporting and forecasting, purchasing, travel, human resources, and property control functions. Analyzes and makes recommendations on office operation needs, including equipment, workflow, and materials. Supports the Chair, including correspondence, data compilation, preparation of reports, calendar maintenance, and related responsibilities. Duties and tasks frequently are nonroutine. Any other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree and two years of highly responsible and varied office administration or business management experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Exceptional customer service skills. Advanced written communication skills. Advanced Microsoft Office skills. Knowledge of accounting/budgeting procedures. Ability to work under pressure, to adjust to constant changes, to handle multiple tasks, and to coordinate the work of others. Ability to keep complex records, to assemble and organize data of complex nature, and to prepare and submit reports in acceptable formats. Ability to conceptualize, plan and organize multiple programs and assignments effectively. Ability to work on complex and confidential tasks utilizing judgment, tact, and resourcefulness. Skill in developing and maintaining good working relationships. Knowledge of policies, practices, procedures and terminology of assigned function. Preferred Qualifications The preferred candidate will possess the following additional qualifications: Experience in administrative management of an academic department. Proficient in EXCEL, Word, and electronic file management. Experience in planning meetings/events. Experience in working with and managing student employees. Experience in compiling and analyzing electronic data and summary report writing. Experience in Power BI, ePar, Marketplace requisitions, Purchasing, Travel.
