Location: Alexandria VA 22311

Pay Rate: $43.00/Hour on w2 without benefits


Duration: 16+ months (potential for permanent)

Shift Timing (Day/ Evening/ Night): Day

Working Hours: Monday-Friday, 40 hrs/week

Job Description:


Assistant PH Emergency Management Coordinator:

  • The purpose of this position is to review and update the Alexandria Health Department's Emergency Plan and its Annexes, thereby facilitating the development of Field Operating Guides.
  • Review and update plans with support from the Public Health Emergency Management Coordinator and other key staff members within the health department.
  • Create a Field Operation guide from existing Alexandria Health Department plans.
  • Support management of the Improvement items from After Action Reports.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Public Health, Emergency Management, Education, or a related field; or 2-3 years of relevant professional experience
  • Completion of FEMA ICS courses: 100, 200, 700, and 800
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and manage complex tasks
  • Collaborative mindset and ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Expert-level written and oral communications with demonstrated ability to develop written products, both technical and non-technical, for a diverse range of audiences.
  • Understanding of public health functions, systems, and infrastructure.
  • Extensive experience in the development, review, revision, maintenance, and operationalization of emergency plans.
  • Demonstrated proactive approaches to problem-solving.
  • Strong organizational skills that reflect an ability to manage multiple priorities and time-sensitive projects and deliverables with excellent attention to detail.
  • Flexibility to work in a dynamic, emergency preparedness and response-focused environment.
