PAY RANGE

The Target Pay Range for this position is $104,000.00-$126,900.00 annually. The full Pay Range is $80,800.00 - $150,200.00 annually. At BECU, compensation decisions are determined using factors such as relevant job-related skills, experience, and education or training. Should an offer for employment be made, we will consider individual qualifications. In addition to your salary, compensation incentives are available for the hired applicant. Incentives are performance based and targets vary by role.

Newly hired employees accrue 6.16 hours of paid time off (PTO) on a per pay period basis based on hours worked (up to a maximum of 160 PTO hours per year) and receive ten paid holidays throughout the calendar year. To join our dynamic team, we require candidates to be residents of WA, OR, ID, AZ, TX, GA, or SC. If you're located in Washington state and within a reasonable driving distance from Tukwila, we are requesting that you come into our HQ on Tuesdays & Wednesdays.For those candidates that live outside the commute distance of TFC and in any of our approved remote work locations, this role will be remote. Remote or onsite, we are committed to ensuring you are fully engaged and included in our collaborative environment.

IMPACT YOU'LL MAKE

As a Senior Financial Accountant at BECU, your expertise will help drive integrity, insight, and impact across our financial reporting. You'll go beyond crunching numbers - you'll ensure compliance, enhance efficiencies, and serve as a trusted resource across departments. Your work will directly support our mission to put members first, through precise accounting and smart financial practices. This is a role where you'll not only apply your technical knowledge, but also help others understand and leverage it.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Lead Financial Reporting Activities: Prepare accurate financial reports, variance analysis, and narratives. Manage general ledger reconciliations and complex journal entries in full compliance with GAAP.
  • Be a Collaborative Partner: Work closely with teams across the credit union to resolve accounting issues, record transactions, and advise on best practices that enhance controls and streamline financial close reporting.
  • Interpret Complex Financial Data: Review invoices, contracts, and agreements to ensure proper accounting treatment and general ledger accuracy.
  • Leverage Data Tools and Systems: Develop a strong working knowledge of our enterprise systems and data tools to efficiently analyze and report financial information.
  • Strengthen Internal Controls: Analyze and improve financial procedures and internal controls. Make recommendations that improve processes and reduce risk, in partnership with cross-functional teams.
  • Serve as a System Expert: Act as a functional lead for assigned financial systems/modules. Participate in the design and implementation of enhancements.
  • Stay Current with GAAP: Assist in researching and applying GAAP requirements to ensure compliance and support process improvement.
  • Document and Share Knowledge: Maintain up-to-date written procedures for your responsibilities and contribute to training and mentoring of the Accounting team.
  • Support Team Success: Guide colleagues, answer questions, and foster learning and knowledge-sharing within the team.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or equivalent work/educational experience
  • Minimum 5 years of progressive accounting experience and proven knowledge of GAAP and related regulatory requirements.
  • Strong analytical and communication skills with a keen eye for detail, excellent organization, and the ability to manage projects independently in a fast-paced environment.

Desired Qualifications

  • CPA or CMA (or active pursuit of certification)
  • Experience designing or enhancing accounting systems and internal controls
  • Familiarity with enterprise financial tools and data platforms
  • Comfort in guiding or training others in accounting concepts
