Purpose of Position
Processes and applies inks, decals, silk screening operations, and surface finishes to component surfaces per design and manufacturers requirements to produce final surface coatings and finishes to manufactured simulator products.
Tasks and Responsibilities
- Cleans and prepares surface for screening and or filling
- Examines printed object for defects and corrects defects when needed
- Performs silk screening operations for required items using inspection glasses for extreme detail and precision.
- Applies paint using HVLP spray guns.
- Able to color match and perform detailed touch up work using paints and inks.
- Studies illustrations, drawings and photographs to plan artwork requirements and layout.
- Determines size and arrangement of illustrative material and copy, selects style and size of type, and arranges layout based upon available space and design constraints.
- Design artwork layout for products using AUTOCAD.
- Keys artwork log information into computer equipment.
- Maintains all associated equipment.
- Exhibit and practice professional and courteous behavior while interacting with both internal and external customers.

- Accountable for the control and distribution of documents and or equipment subject to export control restrictions and the security of FSI materials, projects and business information regarding the methods and techniques used in the production and usage of FSI products.

- Able to adhere to a work schedule including prompt and regular attendance.
- Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.
Minimum Education
- Level C (Grade 5) High School diploma or equivalent (GED), and minimum six months' previous work experience in related field.
- Level B (Grade 6) High School diploma or equivalent (GED), plus oneyear technical school or two years related experience.
- Level A (Grade 7) High School diploma or equivalent (GED), plus oneyear technical school and four years' experience and or equivalent combination of education and experience. Knowledge and expertise for this level usually results from internal progressive experience. However, selection for this position is based on the demonstrated ability of the person to successfully fulfill the requirements listed.
- Senior (Grade 10) High school diploma or general education degree (GED); Must be fully competent in all grade levels. Minimum of 10 years' experience and or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Knowledge and expertise for this level usually results from internal progressive experience. However, selection for this position is based on the demonstrated ability of the person to successfully fulfill the requirements listed.
Minimum Experience
- Level C (Grade 5) - Beginning level applies fundamental principles and concepts of position. Performs the more routine aspects of duties and tasks. Unusual aspects generally referred to supervision.
- Level B (Grade 6) Intermediate level performs more varied and difficult aspects of position as compared to entry level. However, this level requires considerable knowhow of the product, subject matter, principles, and concepts of the position.
- Level A (Grade 7) Competent in subject matter, principles, knowledge, and concepts; generally considered a specialist in area of assignment; able to perform full scope of activities associated with position.
- Sr. (Grade 10) - Senior Level Competent in subject matter, principles, knowledge, and concepts; generally considered a specialist in area. Able to perform full scope of activities associated with job which includes the most difficult aspects. Able to train complex skills to lower level technicians.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
- AUTOCAD, basic PC skills, Type Fonts, experience with Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Acrobat and Photoshop, Print RIP software and vinyl plotter design software.
- Standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers and fax machines. Experience with automated silk screening equipment, photographic process equipment and paint equipment helpful.
- Fluency in English, through both verbal and written communications; able to read, speak, or write and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos; Able to effectively present information in one on one or small group presentations.
- Able to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Able to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions; Able to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
- Valid Drivers License, where applicable.
