Position Title: Machine Commissioner
Wage: $80,000 - $85,000 + benefits & retention incentives A specialized machine-building company is seeking a Machine Commissioner professional to join its tight-knit team in the Greater Milwaukee area. This role is highly hands-on, combining electrical troubleshooting, PLC programming, and customer-facing installation support. If you enjoy both technical problem-solving and working directly with customers, this is a great opportunity in a stable and collaborative environment. What You'll Do: - Commission newly built machines by powering up, loading PLC programs, and testing against customer specifications - Troubleshoot and resolve electrical and mechanical issues (wiring, relays, sensors, pneumatics, motors) - Conduct Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT) at customer locations - Train customers on operation, safety, and maintenance of equipment - Serve as a professional, customer-facing representative of the company - Travel 20-50 days per year (primarily U.S., occasional Canada); mostly weekdays with weekends at home - Provide occasional support at industry trade shows (1-2 days, alternating between Chicago and Las Vegas) What You'll Bring: - Strong electrical aptitude-able to read schematics, trace wiring, and understand electrical theory - Experience with PLC systems, pneumatics, sensors, bearings, and motors - Hands-on background in machine building, automation, or maintenance troubleshooting - Mechanical skills a plus, but electrical troubleshooting is most critical - Self-motivated and adaptable in a small, fast-paced environment - Professional communication skills to represent the company in front of customers - No degree required-practical experience is valued above all else Why Join: - Stable, family-oriented culture with excellent employee retention - Small, collaborative team with autonomy and minimal micromanagement - Work on machines from design through build, test, and customer commissioning - Retention-focused benefits (including contributions beyond traditional 401k) - Role blends hands-on technical problem-solving with customer-facing interaction - Direct visibility with company leadership and the opportunity to make an immediate impact IND345 |
