Koch Capabilities is seeking a Process Safety Engineer - Rotational EH&S Professionals (REP) to join our teams this upcoming Spring or Summer 2027.

You will begin your career with Koch Industries gaining a diverse set of experiences within process safety in multiple Koch locations and industries. Koch's REP program has a way for you to explore your passion in process safety and learn new skills and fast-track your ability to reach your full potential.

For this role, we anticipate paying $87,000 - $90,000 per year.

Our Team

Successful candidates will be placed in a Process Safety Engineering Rotational EH&S Professional ("REP") role within Koch Capabilities and could be placed in two of the following locations (subject to business demand):

Flint Hills Resources:

  • Corpus Christi, TX
  • Rosemount, MN
  • Wichita, KS

Koch Ag & Energy Services:

  • Beatrice, NE
  • Dodge City, KS
  • Enid, OK
  • Fort Dodge, IA
  • St. James, LA
  • Wever, IA
  • Wichita, KS

The rotational program will allow the candidate to support and experience two sites, each for an estimated one-year period. During these experiences, the Process Safety REP will have a supervisor and an on-site mentor to assist in development and project execution. Location is flexible, accommodations can be made if needed, and additional locations and Koch companies are possible that are not in the above list. After the second year is complete, the candidate will be placed at a permanent location.

What You Will Do

Being a Process Safety REP at Koch allows new process safety professionals to create real value for our company while learning how the elements of process safety are applied in industry. The implementation of process safety elements at our sites is crucial in allowing Koch to achieve its safety vision where all workers go home the way they came to work. Effective process safety performance also allows our sites to improve operational performance. Process safety REPs will be given opportunities to get involved in major projects, development opportunities, and operational performance during their rotations, which can benefit society through improving our products and services.

The type of projects and initiatives a Process Safety REP can expect to see and do are the following:

  • Actively lead and gain exposure by working on projects within various process safety elements (e.g., MOC, PSSR, PHA, PSI, Incident Investigations, etc.).
  • Assist with design and roll-out of process safety efforts for facility personnel.
  • Provide frequent input and review of process safety risk reduction practices, projects, and effectiveness.
  • Lead and/or participate in projects requiring engineering expertise with a process safety focus.

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

  • Enrolled in a degree or alternative program. (e.g., 2-year technical college program, certificate program, upskilling program, etc.) or operations experience in a process safety covered petrochemical or manufacturing facility
  • Eligible for full time employment on or before Summer 2027.
  • Legal authorization to work permanently in the United States for any employer without requiring a visa transfer or visa sponsorship.

What Will Put You Ahead

  • Enrolled in or have recently graduated from a Chemical or Mechanical Engineering related degree program.
  • Prior completion of a chemical process safety internship or completion of a college course related to chemical process safety.
  • Prior experience working at a process safety covered petrochemical or manufacturing facility
