ReconCraft is seeking a skilled Ship ConstructorDesigner to support the design and production of manned and unmanned maritime vessels. This position requires expert knowledge of Ship Constructor software to perform lofting, detailing, development of CNC cut-plate files, and material take-offs. The Ship Constructor Designer will also utilize 3D solids modeling tools and surface modeling software to create efficient, manufacturable designs that align with ReconCraft's standards and customer requirements.

The ideal candidate will combine technical expertise with a collaborative, solutions-driven mindset to optimize vessel structures for quality, efficiency, and production readiness.

Responsibilities (include but are not limited to):



  • Lead and manage a team of engineers and designers, providing technical guidance, mentoring, and performance management.
  • Oversee the creation of 3D product design models, structural detailing, lofting, foundation and system designs, and CNC cut-plate files.
  • Ensure designs are optimized for manufacturability, quality, efficiency, and profitability, consistent with ReconCraft's design DNA and customer specifications.
  • Review and approve engineering deliverables including drawings, BOMs, design revisions, and technical data packages.
  • Collaborate with program managers, production teams, and fabrication personnel to resolve design-related challenges and streamline production.
  • Lead design reviews and contribute to proposal development, estimates, and technical feasibility assessments for new projects.
  • Drive innovation in fixture and jig design, shop fabrication methods, and structural system layouts.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant design standards, industry best practices, and emerging technologies.
  • Promote a collaborative, high-performance culture within the engineering team.
  • Perform other duties consistent with department goals and company objectives.


Essential Job Qualifications and Requirements:



  • Education and Experience:

    • 5+ years of experience with Ship Constructor software.
    • 5+ years of experience with 3D solid modeling software (SolidWorks or Inventor).
    • Experience with Rhino surface modeling strongly preferred.
    • Background in marine or transportation mechanical systems
    • Experience with fabrication production processes, including welding, CNC cutting & forming, and modern manufacturing methods.

    • Strong leadership skills with the ability to build, mentor, and manage a high-performing engineering team.
    • Excellent communication and visualization skills to effectively convey design concepts and solutions.
    • Proven ability to balance multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
    • Highly organized, resourceful, detail-oriented, and dependable.
    • Creative and solutions-oriented approach to product development.
    • Commitment to collaboration and continuous improvement.
