Job Description: Edmond, OK Schedule: Sunday-Thursday from 10:00pm to 6:30 am The purpose of a Garage Mechanic (DOT) is to repair delivery equipment including tractors, trailers, bobtails and passenger vehicles or any piece of equipment used for the delivery and unloading of merchandise. Must have Class "A" CDL and 3 or more years of diesel mechanic experience. * Perform duties by following the Company's safety standards. * Use hand tools such as screwdrivers, pliers, wrenches, pressure gauges, and precision instruments, as well as power tools such as pneumatic wrenches, lathes, welding equipment, drill press and jacks and hoists. * Raise trucks and heavy parts or equipment using hydraulic jacks or hoists. * Immediately communicate problems with Supervisor. * Obey traffic laws and follow established traffic and transportation procedures. * Troubleshoot and repair mechanical and electrical problems. * Repair delivery equipment, tractors, trailers, bobtails and passenger vehicles or any piece of equipment used for the delivery and unloading of merchandise. * Document repairs. * Inspect and maintain vehicle supplies and equipment. * Adhere to Federal Motor Carrier Guidelines. Job Qualifications: * Must have Class "A" CDL and 3 or more years of diesel mechanic experience. * Must have a working knowledge of brake systems both air and hydraulic and must be able to perform all repairs. * Must have a working knowledge of diesel engines and must be able to perform all diesel repairs. * Must have normal use of shoulders, arms, wrist, hands, feet and legs. * Must have all tools required to perform repairs. * Must be able to troubleshoot and repair mechanical and electrical problems. * Must be able to communicate with supervisors and shop associates. * Material handling equipment experience is a plus since a forklift is used on occasion. * Must be able to follow instructions and be a self-starter. * Must be capable of working independently with a minimum amount of supervision. * Must be willing to work odd hours and shift work (nights). * Must be able to walk extensively * Must be able to stand for long periods of time usually for 8-10 hours * Must be able to bend at the waist; stoop to reach and squat to lift heavy items in a proper manner and operate lift assisting devices. * While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. * Frequently required to sit, stand; walk; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. * Occasionally required to climb or balance. * Must be able to lift 30-60 lbs. repetitively and heavier items weighing up to 100 lbs. occasionally and frequently push or pull three-hundred (300) pounds. * Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. * High school diploma or GED Driver safety is important to Ben E. Keith. We use dash cameras which leverage artificial intelligence to recognize safe driving, capture safety events and improve driver safety performance. The videos are also used to exonerate drivers in accidents. All drivers sign a driver consent form upon hire to confirm their understanding. Ben E.
