Engineering Manager

Location: Columbia, Maryland

Job Status: Full Time

Clearance: Secret

Systems Engineering Group, Inc. (SEG), an Astrion company, is seeking enthusiastic candidates to fulfill a position as a full-time Engineering Manager to work in Columbia, Maryland.

Responsibilities include:

  • Manage Technical Group scheduling
    • Coordinate with Technical and Program Management and Scheduler to develop and implement staffing plan
    • Ensure staff have appropriate charge codes
  • Perform time/expense administration
    • Manage and approve timecards
    • Manage and approve leave requests
    • Manage and approve expense authorizations and reports
  • Compile group monthly accomplishments for reporting to SEG/Astrion leadership
  • Compile performance evaluation inputs from Group/Team Leads and staff self-evaluation
  • Provide hiring and onboarding support
    • Coordinate with recruiter on opening and updating job reqs
    • Perform first pass review of resumes
    • Facilitate interviews (reserving rooms, coordinating staff and timeslots)
    • Coordinate with recruiter on offers
    • Coordinate with HR and IT on first day and other logistics
  • Provide HR support
    • Brief staff on Astrion "weekly huddle" notes
    • Manage HR tasks, processes, forms, and approvals in UKG portal
  • Miscellaneous staff/resource support
    • Coordinate with Accounting/Purchasing Team, Program Management, and vendors to initiate and track software purchases and annual license renewals
    • Facilitate staff requests for Common Access Cards (CACs), SIPR/CNET Tokens, Identrust Tokens, etc.
    • Facilitate cross-domain data transfers to support staff and projects
    • Facilitate scheduling meetings
    • Initiate Jira tickets for products related to new projects/tasks

Minimum Requirements:

  • Candidates must be US citizens with the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance
  • Candidates must possess a Bachelor of Science degree
  • Candidates must be able to communicate well through written documentation and oral presentations
  • Candidates must possess strong organizational and project management skills

Desired Qualifications:

  • Candidates should possess an active DoD Secret clearance
  • Candidates should be familiar with the Atlassian tool suite (Jira, Confluence)
  • Candidates should have experience managing a large, diverse team
