Tesla is seeking a Senior Manufacturing & Field OT Security Engineer to help lead and execute OT security across North America Gigafactories, production programs, warehouses, service centers, and facilities OT networks. This role is central to securing Tesla's most advanced manufacturing environments, including Optimus robotics production, Cybercab lines, and Semi manufacturing.

At Tesla, we secure the machine that builds the machine. This engineer will work hands-on inside factories and operational environments, partnering with manufacturing, controls engineering, IT Manufacturing, facilities, and InfoSec teams to drive measurable risk reduction without impacting production.

This role spans robotics, ICS, OT networks, and secure remote access, supporting both mature factories and rapidly evolving programs. The ideal candidate is execution focused, comfortable in live production environments, and capable of translating security requirements into practical, scalable solutions across diverse operational footprints.

What You'll Do
  • Execute OT security assessments and remediation across: Gigafactory manufacturing lines, Optimus robotics production environments, Cybercab and Semi production systems, Warehouses, service centers, and facilities OT networks
  • Drive vulnerability management, patching, and firmware updates for KUKA, FANUC, Siemens, Beckhoff, and Rockwell platforms, aligned with operational constraints.
  • Utilize Claroty for: Passive asset discovery and monitoring.Active querying and validation (where approved). Vulnerability identification and remediation tracking. Detection of anomalies and visibility gaps
  • Support secure remote access architectures for vendors, engineers, and support teams, ensuring controlled, auditable access to OT systems
  • Partner with Control Engineering and IT Manufacturing teams to harden: PLCs, HMIs, robot controllers, industrial networks and supporting infrastructure
  • Contribute to robotic security hardening initiatives, including credential management, firmware baselines, USB controls, and controller lockdown strategies
  • Support incident response and threat investigations impacting manufacturing, robotics, and OT environments
  • Enable secure onboarding of new lines, tooling, vendors, and facilities, including early security input for new production programs
  • Help define and operationalize global OT security standards, playbooks, and best practices across factories and field environments
  • Support backup, resilience, and recovery initiatives for critical manufacturing and OT systems

What You'll Bring
  • 4+ years of experience in OT, ICS, SCADA, or Manufacturing Security environments
  • Hands-on experience securing industrial robotics, especially KUKA and FANUC controllers
  • Strong working knowledge of Siemens, Beckhoff, and Rockwell PLC platforms in production settings
  • Practical experience with Claroty or similar OT security platforms, including passive monitoring and active validation techniques
  • Familiarity with OT protocols such as Profinet, EtherNet/IP, Modbus, and industrial network segmentation
  • Experience implementing or supporting secure remote access solutions for OT environments
  • Proven experience with patching, firmware management, and vulnerability remediation in live manufacturing systems
  • Familiarity with SIEM integration and security telemetry (Splunk preferred)
