Description A Brief Overview

The Service Line / Institute Business Analyst is responsible for the monthly preparation of Key Performance Indicators and analysis of the monthly financial statements for senior management of University Hospitals. Assists with development and management of operating, capital and utilization budgets and other business reporting; data collection and reporting to various agencies; maintenance and reconciliation of multiple monthly analyses for the Service Line or Institute.

What You Will Do

  • Responsible for the preparation of monthly and quarterly financial activity reports for the respective Service / Institute Medical and Surgical Services. Up to an including all financial and operational reporting and analysis including budget preparation, business planning, expense management, endowment and development accounts reconciliation, grant spending projections, and provider productivity.
  • Assist in preparation of annual budget for revenue and operating expense.
  • Assist with day to day operations, daily flash reporting and review hospital surveys.
  • Works collaboratively with the CMC, Community Hospitals, UHMG, and UHMP Department of Finance to assist with data requests from leads of the operations departments regarding requests for financial data.
  • Provides operational and strategic support for the clinical practice, academic, and research activities.
  • Responsible for development and management of analytics infrastructure to support initiatives that achieve financial and operational goals related to revenue optimization, cost containment, access, and patient experience.
  • Assists in planning and development, focusing on industry research, best practices and industry trends.
  • Assists in the interpretation and further analysis of access, market share and care retention data in order to facilitate business development, propose proper provider deployment, and enhance the level of patient keepage within UH.
  • Assists in the interpretation of inpatient data to provide insights into the quality of patient care, such as lengths of stay, patient disposition, and case mix index.
  • Assists in the analysis of provider productivity and sub-specialty group productivity to provide insight into deployment, recruitment, and practice design.
  • Assists in the analysis of overall provider utilization, including overall time utilization of ambulatory outpatient schedules as well as block utilization of surgical and procedural blocks (when applicable)
