About the job:
This temp/casual position is responsible for implementing outreach activities of UMD Engage, a campus-wide program of the Office of Academic Affairs, under the direction of the Public Engagement Program Manager. Implementing outreach activities includes coordinating external-internal communications to stakeholders and organizing community engagement events. The Community Engagement Program Assistant supports and expands service opportunities for UMD faculty, staff and students and assists the UMD Public Engagement Program Manager in the development and delivery of community engaged learning opportunities.

Duties and Responsibilities:
* Collects information about best practices in the area of outreach for public and community engagement in higher education.
* Shares information with the UMD Public Engagement Program Manager, and collaborates in using the information to identify potential outreach events.
* Organizes logistics (e.g., venues, catering) for outreach events.
* Writes and distributes communication materials to promote outreach events within the University and to community members/organizations.
* Meets with students, staff, and faculty to promote UMD Engage outreach events.
* Attends community outreach events hosted by UMD Engage and program partners.
* Enters outreach event data into University systems and maintains program records to support tracking efforts for UMD Engage.
* Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:
* BA/BS or a combination of related education and work experience to equal four years
* Ability to apply knowledge and skill to a recurring task or activity with on precision and timeliness.

Preferred Qualifications:
* Interest in community engagement (i.e., service, volunteerism, community engaged learning)
* Strong organization skills and attention to detail.
* Ability to work independently, as well as collaboratively with a team.
* Strong verbal and written communication skills.
* Enjoys challenges, highly motivated, flexible, and focused.
* Must be reliable, conscientious, and punctual.
* Experience in an office setting.
* Experience with PCs, Google, and Microsoft Office Applications.

Pay and Benefits

Pay Range: $21.09 per hour; depending on education/qualifications/experience.
