Job Summary

The Financial Analyst IV is a critical member of the Psychiatry Financial Services Team and plays a crucial role in the overall successful support and management of funding for the Faculty & Principal Investigators (PIs) within the Department of Psychiatry and the successful project manager and directional support for finance team members. The Financial Analyst IV independently provides broad analytical fund management to a group of Faculty and provides critical support for complex budget, financial, or resource analysis for the department and various components. The role will include direct supervision of two financial analysts in post award management. The individual will also provide high quality, efficient, responsive, and responsible financial analysis, reporting and forecasting, and administration services.

The Financial Analyst IV will rely on strong communication skills to be able to present and discuss data and reports to various client groups: staff, PIs, Department Leadership. The candidate will successfully research, interpret, clarify and apply all applicable Departmental, University and Agency policies and regulations, and to be able to clearly communicate the complexities of language around such polices and regulations. This position requires a high level of ethics and professional standards to handle sensitive matters with tact and sound judgment.

The advanced experience of high-level independent portfolio management will be significant as this position will be lead on organizational programmatic management. This includes developing and recommending internal policies and procedural changes; training and direct supervision of staff and developing standard operating procedures.

This is a hybrid-remote position, which includes a combination of 4 on-site and 1 remote workday.

The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.

Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.

The salary range for this position is $113,400 - $170,000 (Annual Rate).

Required Qualifications

• Advanced degree in related area and minimum five years of experience or equivalent experience / training
• Advanced knowledge of finance policies, practices, and systems
• Ability to identify, collect, and analyze information from multiple sources
• Advanced ability to effectively present complex finance related information both verbally and in writing in a clear and concise manner
• In depth ability to use multiple spreadsheet and database software tools to gather information for specialized, complex financial analysis, fiscal management, and financial reports
• Advanced interpersonal skills at all levels within the organization; advanced service orientation and critical thinking skills; and attention to detail. In depth ability to use organizational skills to multi-task in a high-volume environment
• Ability to adapt to changing priorities
• Ability to function as a member of a team

Preferred Qualifications

• Advanced knowledge and understanding of internal control practices and their impact on protecting University resources
