Job Description
General Purpose of Job: Provides excellent front-line customer service regarding Sparrow Health System total rewards policies including benefits, compensation, FMLA/LOA and retirement. Responsible for processing of several HR transactions, such as HRIS data changes, enrollment of benefits, tuition reimbursement, and employee terminations. Essential Duties:
- Serve as front-line customer service representative for employees, leaders, and applicants in regards to Total Rewards policies, procedures and benefit plan information. Provide excellent customer service through research, investigation and response to employee inquiries received in person, by phone, or through email.
- Oversees leaves of absences for employees including guiding them through the leave process, entering short term disability pay or time off pay into timecards, and assisting with the return to work process.
- Review and process all benefit changes into the HRIS system ensuring that benefit enrollments comply with Health System policies.
- With a high degree of accuracy, process, enter, review and verify HR/payroll transactions including status changes, terminations and new hires.
- Maintains and updates employment history records through paper, electronic and other media.
- Maintains knowledge of benefits policies, including eligibility, qualifying enrollment events, options, related cost, and application processes.
- Responsible for processing and recording requests for tuition reimbursement, BSN completion, Nursing and Professional Certifications, and mandatory requirement programs for the Health System per written policies/guidelines.
- Participates in and/or coordinates items for special projects as needed, such as new hire orientation, open enrollment, resident orientation, HRIS system change testing, new benefit plan/options implementation and roll-out, transition of newly acquired entities, reviewing and updating Total Rewards procedures, etc.
- Provide occasional receptionist coverage at the Human Resources front desk area
Job Requirements
General Requirements |
Completion of Sparrow Service Champion program, or equivalent customer service program, within 6 months of hire/transfer into the role |
Work Experience |
Experience with Microsoft Access software preferred Experience with Lawson HRIS software preferred |
Education |
Associate degree in Human Resources, business, or related field and minimum of two years experience working in Human Resources, Benefit Administration, Payroll or customer service related role OR High School Diploma/GED and four years experience working in Human Resources, Benefit Administration, Payroll or customer service related field. |
Specialized Knowledge and Skills |
Computer proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (i.e. Word and Excel) Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities, work independently and exercise sound judgment. Excellent communication skills necessary to effectively interact with all levels of Caregivers, carrier representatives, and other people we serve. Demonstrated ability to perform arithmetic calculations. Minimum keyboarding skill of 45 wpm Ability to manage demanding situations with patience and tact and maintain a service-oriented demeanor Ability to manage a high volume of calls in a timely manner |
