About the Role:

As a geographic information system (GIS) specialist in the Quality Management and Improvement Services practice area, you will collaborate with team members to build and maintain GIS software and GIS data sets. Serving as a GIS Specialist, your day-to-day role as a NYSTEC consultant will include developing software and data and implementing automated workflow processes, including scripting new processes and testing web services.


Key Responsibilities

  • Configuring and working with databases and developing functions and queries.
  • Developing, testing, and deploying GIS software and GIS datasets.
  • Developing scripts and/or object orient programming (Python preferred).
  • Running GIS data extract, transform, load (ETL) workflows, manually or through scheduled automation, including triggers, actions, indicators, notifications, and logging.
  • Testing and troubleshooting technical issues with GIS database scripts, tools, and/or workflows.


About you:
Required Qualifications

  • Experience in configuring and working with databases and developing functions and queries.
  • Experience developing, testing, and deploying GIS software and GIS datasets.
  • Experience in developing scripts and or object orient programming, Python preferred.
  • Experience in running GIS data ETL workflows, manually or through schedule, including triggers, actions, indicators, notifications, and logging.
  • Experience in testing and troubleshooting technical issues with GIS databases scripts, tools, and/or workflows.
  • Experience with back-end server maintenance and support, as well as portal administration.


Education and Experience

  • A bachelor's degree in geography, with concentration in GIS, or a degree in computer science, data science, math, or a related field and six years of experience in the GIS field.
  • An equivalent combination of advanced education, training, and experience will be considered.


The target salary range for this position is $84,497 - $109-846 per year. When determining compensation, we carefully consider several factors including education, professional experience, and job-related qualifications.
