CTE Specialist

Job Description:

The CTE Specialist provides leadership and support in administering, testing, monitoring and implementing the requirements for a quality CTE program. The specialist collaborates with administrators, instructional staff, and community members in assuring that appropriate CTE curriculum and instructional practices are occurring in all classrooms and assist the administrative team with program administration. This position Reports to the Academic Principal of Career and Technical Education. This is a 10-month, Licensed position.

Qualifications:

• Education: Bachelor's Degree in Technology Education or related areas such as Engineering or STEM. Master's degree preferred.

• Certificates & Licenses: Valid Virginia Department of Education CTE license is required, or eligibility to obtain one.

  • A minimum of five years secondary teaching experience in related field to CTE required.
  • Experience teaching or working in a CTE, STEM, engineering or engineering-related field perferred.
  • Thorough knowledge of Virginia CTE programs, regulations, Perkins, and graduation requirements.
  
  
  
  

Essential Functions:

• Assist with and promote high-quality curriculum and instruction aligned with state curriculum standards and reflect regional or local labor market demands and focus on current or emerging high-skill, high- wage, or high-demand occupations
• Assist Department Chairs with a comprehensive program consisting of over 60 courses and 40 teachers, duties include but not limited to




• Assist department chairs to hold monthly meetings
• Serving as liaison between administration and PLC leads
• Fielding teacher questions and concerns
• Collaborating with teachers and Academic Principal related to new course requests
• Attending Instructional Leadership Team meetings




• Collaborate with the school counseling program related to




• Educating counselors regarding CTE regulations and requirements
• Assist building a master schedule
• Fielding questions related to CTE related testing and graduation requirements




• Coordinate with staff to ensure students are meeting CTE testing graduation requirements & facilitate CTE testing for non-graduation requirements
• Work with the district CTE Director to build the annual CTE test budget, data collection, Perkins, Advisory Committee, and other initiatives
• Facilitate annual data collection and reports related to CTE completers, industry testing and other requested data
• Assist in recruiting and retaining a skilled staff and provide professional development opportunities for those teachers and faculty
• Must be able to meet and interact with employees and parents/guardians
• Lead planner for the annual Pathways Expo.
• Collaborates to develop and maintain a CTE Advisory Panel and The Academies of Alexandria Pathway Committee of external partners aligned with academy pathways.
• Works in conjunction with the school Instructional Coach on special projects.

Salary:

• Step Placement and Salary for this position is deteremined by The ACPS Teachers and Other Licensed Staff Salary Scale

Clearances:

• Criminal Justice Fingerprint/Background Clearance.
• Tuberculosis Skin Test.
