Lube/Fuel Technician Mechanic Apprentice (SLD Landfill)

Waste Connections, Inc. has immediate openings for ahigh energyLube/Fuel Technician/ Mechanic Apprentice to join the team at our Hauling location inPunta Gorda SLD Landfill, FL. Previous waste experience would be a hugeplus!

This will be a Monday - Friday position working 6:00 AM - 6:00 PM and Possible Saturdays. .

Pay rate $22.00 to $25.00 an hour DOE

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Conducts safety checks on vehicles and equipment.
• Performs maintenance related work as required.
• Performs inspections, diagnosis and repair of electrical, hydraulic, suspension, brake and air systems on vehicles and equipment.
• Maintains a clean, safe work area in compliance with corporate and OSHA standards.
• Performs all work in accordance with established safety procedures.
• Ability to effectively communicate needed repairs or tasks.

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL EFFORT:

• Extensive physical activity. Requires strenuous physical work; heavy lifting, pushing, or pulling required of objects over 50 pounds.
• Work environment may be indoors in a shop, or outdoors to repair equipment on the landfill. Usually well-lighted and ventilated. Sometimes necessary to work in awkward or tight positions and to handle greasy or dirty tools. These factors require following basic safety precautions.

MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:

• . Preferably 1+year experience in heavy truck equipment maintenance and repair or completion of a diesel tech program or good attitude, willingness to learn, and strong work ethic is a preferred quality.
• Proficiency in vehicle and equipment diagnosis and repair.
• Ability to read and comprehend service and technical information.
