About the Position As an Itinerant School Business Manager, you'll serve as a trusted advisor and problem-solver for school districts, providing expert guidance in accounting, business management, and compliance. About Us The Office of the Maricopa County School Superintendent is led by the elected Superintendent. The office provides statutory services related to school governing board elections, bond andoverride elections, appointments, school finance, and maintaining homeschool and private school records. We Require
- Two years of financial management and a minimum of one year of finance experience in school district business services
- Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or a closely related field
- An equivalent combination of education and related experience may substitute for the required education on a year-for-year basis

- Experience in School Business Finance, Payroll and Human Resources
- Experience working with Infinite Visions Enterprise Edition
- Experience in Grants Management and/or completed courses in Arizona School Finance
Job Contributions
- Monitor school district Revenue Control Limits and Expenditures to ensure that a school district does not exceed its General Limits of Spending Authority and adjudicate outstanding issues on behalf of the small school districts
- Conduct audit activities and administer appropriate control systems to ensure compliance with State Statutes and Federal Laws. Assist School Districts with audit services through compliance and trending
- Facilitate and act as liaison on matters pertaining to Financial Affairs. This includes, but is not limited to, monitoring/auditing contracts and other legal activities, making recommendations of positions on legal actions in accordance with Arizona Revised Statutes pertaining to Fiscal Issues
- Recommend changes to or amendments to State Fiscal Laws
- Monitor State and Federal financial management policies and regulations and alerts client school districts to potential problems and/or changes
- Advise school district personnel on complex issues concerning Arizona school finance including Uniform Standard Financial Reporting (USFR) accounting procedures, budgeting and reporting requirements
- Create operations and maintenance training manuals for internal and external users
- Provide training on software application changes and the effects on client business operations for needs of specific schools
- Reconcile the District general ledger cash accounts against funds held with the Maricopa County Treasurer
- Provide consulting or professional development as needed to ensure Districts are operating efficiently
Working Conditions
- Must possess or have the ability to possess by time of hire a valid Arizona driver's license
- In an office work environment
- Requires travel to various school districts throughout the county, subject to County policies regarding use of County vehicles and/or private vehicles used on County business
