Barrios has a need for a Mechanical or Electrical Technicians for our Commercial Space contract(s).

Responsibilities

The Mechanical or Electrical Technician will:

    Use precision calibrated tools
  • Conduct hands on operations with both large and small fragile assemblies
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings and work instructions
  • Perform work according to procedures, specifications, and test instructions
  • Use various tools without prior instruction
  • Collaborate with production engineers to develop and document integration processes
  • Work with engineers to design flight and test harnesses
  • Take initiative to read through Interface Control Documents to ensure that cables are created correctly after being given the task to create cables for a specific test
  • Work with manufacturing and quality engineers to identify improvements to designs
  • Interact with other design teams, electrical technicians, and the avionics team to coordinate changes
  • Ensure all production services are performed on time, safely and in a professional manner
  • Perform all other assigned duties


Qualifications

Required Education/Experience/Skills:

  • Two (2) years of college with courses in computer science, mathematics, or other related engineering courses, plus two (2) years of related technician experience. Additional relevant education may be substituted for a portion of the experience

  • Two (2) years of college with courses in computer science, mathematics, or other related engineering courses, plus five (5) years of related technician experience. Additional relevant education may be substituted for a portion of the experience.

-OR-

  • Two (2) years of college with courses in computer science, mathematics, or other related engineering courses, plus ten (10) years of related technician experience. Additional relevant education may be substituted for a portion of the experience.

-OR-

  • Two (2) years of college with courses in computer science, mathematics, or other related engineering courses, plus fifteen (15) years of related technician experience. Additional relevant education may be substituted for a portion of the experience
  • Excellent communication skills (in both written and verbal), integration, coordination and presentation skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint)
  • Demonstrated ability to work well in a team and independently

Preferred Education/Experience/Skills:

  • Experience with flight hardware
  • Thorough familiarity with circuit design, fabrication, assembly, and test
  • Analog circuit understanding
  • Skilled in soldering electronic components
  • Thorough familiarity with implementation of best practices in aerospace grounding and shielding of wire harnesses etc.
  • Schematic capture software experience
  • Hands-on experience with hand tools
  • Ability to rapidly change roles/responsibilities while working in a high-paced, challenging work environment

Essential Requirements:

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen and successfully complete a U.S. government background investigation.

  • Work may involve sitting for extended periods.
  • May require lifting and carrying up to 25 lb.
  • Must have sufficient mobility to enter areas of test facilities where necessary.
  • Generally, an office environment, but can involve inside or outside work depending on task.
  • Standard office equipment (PC, telephone, fax, etc.)
  • Regular attendance in accordance with established work schedule is critical.
  • Ability to work outside normal schedule and adjust schedule to meet peak periods and surge requirements when required.
  • Must be able to work in a team atmosphere.
  • Must put forward a professional behavior that enhances productivity and promotes teamwork and cooperation.
  • Grooming and dress must be appropriate for the position and must not impose a safety risk/hazard to the employee or others.
  • This position may require some commuting and traveling to other installations as needed.
