Buckeye Partners is currently seeking a Technical Writer with strong facilitation and technical writing skills in the Oil & Gas Industry to join our team!

Role Summary:

The Technical Writer is responsible for creating, editing, and managing controlled documentation that supports our Safety and Operations Management System (SOMS) requirements ensuring that all materials are accurate, clear, and accessible.

Responsibilities include:

Develop, publish, and maintain comprehensive, organized, and accessible documentation, including manuals, standards and specifications, policies, procedures, and guidance within the Document Management System.



  • Collaborate with subject matter experts to gather information and translate it to accurate written instruction.
  • Review and edit documentation produced by program owners, operations and/or subject matter experts, ensuring consistency and adherence to document type requirements and Company style guides.
  • Interface with Operations Services and Compliance to ensure documentation remains in alignment to industry regulations and Company best practices.
  • Stay current with Company processes to enhance documentation quality and alignment across written process and practice.
  • Support the documentation review and approval process through interaction with subject matter experts, program owners, document owners, and leadership.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams to gather feedback and implement improvements to documentation processes.
  • Support evaluating document-related changes as managed through the Company Management of Change (MOC) process.
  • Support communication and collaboration with Operations Training Program to ensure training and awareness is in sync with latest published documentation.
  • Maintain working knowledge of Document Management system configurations and process workflows and support the system-facilitated document control process as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.



Position Requirements:



  • Bachelor's degree required.


  • 5+ years technical writing and publishing or equivalent experience.
  • Pipeline or other related industry experience is desirable.
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite web publishing required.

Essential Functions:

This position requires the ability to safely and successfully perform essential job functions consistent with ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and or/quantitative productivity standards.



  • This role requires the ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.
  • This position requires compliance with all personnel policies.



Physical & Safety Requirements:



  • The person in this position needs to occasionally move inside the office to access file cabinets, office equipment, etc.


  • This role continuously operates a computer and other office productivity equipment (i.e. a calculator, copy machine and computer printer).
