Description

Idaho National Laboratory is hiring a Reactor Program Manager to work in our Nuclear Reactor Technology Division. Our team works a 9 x 80 schedule located out of our Idaho Falls facility with every other Friday off.

INL is looking for a national expert in space nuclear power and propulsion technology. If you are looking to deliver space nuclear technologies, apply and be part of a transformation in space exploration.

Responsibilities Include:



  • Lead a team of reactor developers to deliver reactor hardware for prototype testing.
  • Advise and help develop a strategy for research, development, and deployment of space fission technology and who can guide technology development forward.
  • You will need a strong grasp on the current state of the art of reactor technologies and to articulate technical gaps and strengths across a range of reactor design types.
  • You must be capable of both performing detailed reactor analyses and lead teams and initiatives and manage subcontracts.
  • Familiarity with Space Reactor policy and requirements, such as launch approval, and licensing.
  • Serve as an SME to identify technical gaps and strengths across a range of reactor design types.
  • Mentor staff and interns.
  • Perform technical analyses to support a range of reactor design types.
  • Business development in space fission areas of research.
  • You will report to the Division Director.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:



  • Level 4: Baccalaureate degree in scientific or other technical field from an accredited institution and 9 years of experience or a Master's and 6 years of experience or PhD and 4 years of experience.
  • Level 5: Baccalaureate degree in scientific or other technical fields from an accredited institution and 14 years of experience or Master's and 8 years of experience or PhD and 6 years of experience.
  • Acceptable Degrees are in an engineering field, nuclear engineering or physics.
  • Must have at least 9 years of reactor design experience, Space Nuclear Reactors or defense-related nuclear reactors.
  • Demonstrated ability to quickly assess and review design from other sources and provide feedback and assessments to senior leadership.
  • Must be collaborative, being able to work with industry, national laboratory, and government leaders effectively, both at the engineering level and the senior leadership level. Must be an effective mentor, helping to grow less-experienced staff into effective space reactor engineer.
  • This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy "Q" clearance, which requires US Citizenship.


Physical Requirements:



  • While performing the duties of this classification, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, stoop, kneel, bend, use hands to handle materials, manipulate tools, keyboard and type, reach with hands and arms, and operate jobrelated equipment. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Sufficient visual acuity and hearing capacity to perform the essential functions and interact with people is required. Job Information:



  • The pay range for this position is: Level #4 ($134,124 - $275,136) / Level #5 ($161,040 - $330,156). At Idaho National Laboratory compensation decisions are determined using factors such as education, relevant experience, and other credentials.
  • TDP: This is a testing designated position; you will be required to submit to a pre-employment drug screen and periodic drug testing throughout the term of your employment.
  • Multi-Level: This is a multi-level posting and you will be placed at the appropriate level dependent on depth and breadth of proven experience and skills.
