Bruker Spatial Genomics (BSG), a subsidiary of Bruker, is focused on opening a new frontier in spatial 3D genomics and multiomic analyses. We are committed to the development of a novel technology platform allowing progress in genome-wide visualization of spatially resolved 3D chromosome and chromatin architecture in individual cells and cell populations in situ. As the Sr. Mechanical Engineer, the candidate will be responsible for the mechanical design and modifications of scientific instruments supporting sample preparation and imaging used in our revolutionary 3D spatial genomics. This position will work closely with the VP of New Product Development, Instrumentation & Hardware, the Sr. Staff Opto-mechanical Engineer and the Sr. Staff Systems Engineer to assure that the company delivers innovative products to desired specifications. The Sr. Mechanical Engineer should have a broad understanding of sound instrument design.



Responsibilities

* Work with the product development team to design and develop modular mechanical solutions and systems for our next generation instruments.
* Perform prototype assembly and verification of mechanical assemblies.
* Specify and/or coordinate mechanical component design & fabrication with suppliers.
* Create subassembly and system specifications and test procedures.
* Direct offshore mechanical engineering design resources to complete required documentation.



Qualifications

* Over 8 years of experience in Mechanical Design with a BS in Mechanical Engineering.
* Direct experience with product commercialization
* Experience with Solidworks
* Proficiency with GD&T tolerancing
* Design experience with developing high tolerance assemblies consisting of machined components, sheet metal and molded parts.
* Basic mechatronics- experience designing motorized 1stage assemblies.
* Experience with product design incorporating fluid delivery for fluidics/micro-fluidics devices
- Pressure and vacuum driven flow
- Designing face and radial seals.
* Hands on experience assembling and testing mechanical systems.
* Experience in instrumentation development or other small desktop sized precision assemblies
* Demonstrated proficiency in presenting, written and verbal communication.

At Bruker, base salary is part of our total compensation. The estimated base salary range for this full-time position is between $95,400 and $168,000 provides an opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base salary for the role will depend on a several job-related factors, including, but not limited to education, training, experience, the geographic location of the successful candidate, skills, competencies, job-related knowledge and travel requirements for this position. Full-time employees may also be eligible for a performance-related incentive in addition to a full range of benefits including 401(k) with company match, an employee stock purchase plan, medical and dental plans, life insurance, short-term and long-term disability insurance, employee assistance program and paid time off including vacation, sick time and holidays, and more.
