Operating successfully in Green River, Wyoming, WE Soda is the world's largest natural soda ash mine and production site, offering a secure, reliable, and diverse range of high-quality product choices. WE Soda mines and processes trona ore and manufactures soda ash that is used in the production of glass, detergents, chemical manufacturing, pulp and paper production, and water treatment. In addition, the company also produces sodium bicarbonate and other chemical compounds used in common industrial, agricultural, and household applications.

Position Title: Procurement Specialist


Location: Green River, WY


Key Responsibilities:


* Execute procurement activities including sourcing, negotiations, contract formation, supplier management and strategic planning for all Company related needs
* Manage vendor contracts and performance to ensure service levels, cost competitiveness, and compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements
* Lead sourcing and procurement for assigned commodity group including MRO, Services, Capital, and Repairables purchases
* Collaborate cross-functionally with operations, maintenance, engineering, finance, and leadership to align procurement activities with business needs-from tactical buys to strategic sourcing initiatives
* Provide procurement support across categories as needed and contribute to department-wide objectives
* Drive compliance with WE Soda Alkali procurement standards, internal controls, and ethical sourcing policies
* Ensure timely and effective communication with stakeholders and suppliers to manage expectations and meet operational requirements
* Support the development, standardization, and continuous improvement of procurement processes and procedures, including onboarding and training of new department employees
* Demonstrate professionalism, customer focus, and a sense of urgency in daily activities
* Work independently, prioritize effectively, and take initiative on assigned tasks and improvement projects


Activities:


* Lead local/regional sourcing activities, including negotiating and contracting for materials and services for the site
* Manage contracts and maintain vendor relationships critical to the site
* Ensure compliance with appropriate local sourcing processes takes place according to WE Soda Alkali procurement policies and site-specific sourcing procedures
* Support implementation and adherence to enterprise-wide contracts at the site level
* Resolve supplier performance and invoicing issues, monitor and document supplier reliability, delivery, and quality performance
* Analyze supplier performance metrics and collaborate with vendors to drive continuous improvements
* Identify, execute, and document cost-saving and value improvement initiatives
* Review and process new vendor requests, ensuring supplier prequalification is complete and risk-assessed in accordance with company policy
* Partner with cross-functional teams to streamline procurement workflows and support training on procurement policies and processes
* Ensure accurate and timely execution of purchase orders, data entry, and procurement reporting
* Support budget and forecasting activities by providing timely procurement data and spend insights to Finance
* Support and comply with site-level quality systems, safety, and environmental management systems
* Actively participates in the safety programs and activities
* Build strong internal relationships to ensure alignment between Procurement and site functions including Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, and Finance
* Prepare and execute purchase orders and service contracts that align with site timeliness, cost targets and operational goals


Skill, Ability and Educational Requirements:


Required Skills and Experience:
* High School diploma or equivalent (such as the GED) with 1-3 years of relevant functional procurement experience.
* Demonstrated communication skills through various modes.
* Ability to manage priorities to efficiently and effectively meet deadlines.
* Execution of detailed PO/contracts relating to services, materials, timeliness, cost savings and profitability.
* Effective negotiation and influencing skills
Preferred Skills and Experience:
* Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain & Logistics, or relevant equivalent.
* CPM or CPSM Certification
* Integrated use of ERP systems such as SAP, and strong working knowledge of MS office applications including but not limited to Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and Teams.
A relevant mix of education and other experiences will be considered
