This Position reports to:

Procurement Manager

Your role and responsibilities

In this role, you will have the opportunity to develop, plan, and implement procurement strategy focused on optimizing costs, quality, delivery, and reliability of suppliers and supplied products for an assigned category or group of categories. Each day, you will ensure execution in accordance with company, procurement, and supply base management instructions and procedures. You will also showcase your expertise by recommending frame agreements to management and executing upon approval.

The work model for the role is: Onsite - Florence, SC, or Mebane, NC

You will be mainly accountable for:

  • Design and implement local sourcing plans to meet business targets, while supporting regional and global sourcing initiatives and coordinating service division SCM budget targets and KPI follow-ups.

  • Identify and develop cost-effective, qualify new and existing suppliers in alignment with ABB sourcing and quality requirements, working closely with cross-functional and engineering teams to implement technical changes and manage commercial impacts.

  • Minimizes risk regarding quality and financial exposure by buying in accordance with quality and commercial procedures and company guidelines.

  • Ensures identification, investigation, and selection of appropriate suppliers (focusing on quality, delivery, cost, and sustainability) in accordance with company policies.

  • Provides and maintains standard terms in purchase contracts/terms and conditions in line with company directives and guidelines.

Qualifications for the role

  • Bachelor degree in engineering (preferred) PLUS minimum 5 years' experience in sourcing and procurement operations within a manufacturing environment.

  • Practical experience in sourcing for low and medium voltage manufacturing product lines such as Switchgear, Breakers, relays, etc.

  • Advanced skills in high-speed metal stamping, fabrication, sheet metal cabinets, plastic molding and subcontracting processes.

  • Proficient costing and negotiation skills, with lean process knowledge to ensure cost efficiency.

  • MS Excel, data analysis, SAP Ariba and SAP MM for sourcing and procurement activities.

  • Candidates must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US.
