Overview

The Eddy Current NDT Technician (level 1) is responsible for performing nondestructive testing (NDT) using the eddy current method to evaluate materials, components, and assemblies for surface and near-surface defects. The technician will ensure compliance with industry codes, customer requirements, and internal quality standards while maintaining a safe and efficient work environment.

Salary: $21-24/hour + $1 differential (2nd shift)

Shift: 1-9:30pm



Responsibilities

    Perform eddy current inspections on metals, alloys, and other conductive materials to detect cracks, corrosion, wear, or other discontinuities.

  • Set up and calibrate eddy current equipment according to applicable procedures, specifications, and standards.

  • Follow written procedures and work instructions to ensure consistent quality and compliance.
  • Collaborate with quality, and production teams to address findings and recommend corrective actions.

  • Ensure all NDT equipment is properly maintained, stored, and calibrated.

  • Adhere to company and industry safety practices, including proper use of PPE (Personal Protective Equipment).

  • Maintain certification and training requirements in accordance with company policy and relevant standards (e.g., ASNT SNT-TC-1A, NAS 410).



Skills / Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required; technical training or associate degree preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in NDT, with at least 1 year in eddy current testing is a plus.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications.

  • Exposure to using eddy current instruments, probes, and related accessories.

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently or in a team environment.

  • Excellent communication, documentation, and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment
  • Willing to learn new processes and procedures
Work Environment:
  • Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs, climb ladders, and work in confined or elevated spaces.

  • Field and shop environments with exposure to varying weather and industrial conditions.

  • Must be willing to travel and work overtime or weekends as needed.

  • Use of PPE and strict adherence to safety procedures required.
