Daikin Applied is seeking a Strategic Sourcing Manager II! The Strategic Sourcing Manager II proactively manages assigned categories for direct material such as critical, complex component parts, finished goods, and/or raw materials with a domestic and international supply base. The SSM is responsible to identify and develop strategic supplier relationships supporting key DAA business requirements. Scope for this position includes strategic sourcing, category management, procurement, logistics, cost reduction, contract negotiations, supplier performance management, product development and supplier innovation. What you will do:


  • Prepare category strategies for supply bases that mitigate supply risk and ensure business continuity
  • Assess tier supply risk (1, 2, 3) within supply base and develop strategies to mitigate risk
  • Drive improvements in supplier performance management through supplier development supplier lean initiatives
  • Implement Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and green initiatives within supply base to improve carbon footprint and ensure compliance
  • Drive supply chain redundancy through dual sourcing and supply localization
  • Identify new suppliers, develop RFQs, and analyze quote proposals with pre-defined selection criteria to rationalize the global supply base
  • Understands cost structures and market dynamics of the supply base to mitigate supplier price increase requests
  • Drive development and implementation of cost productivity projects to deliver year over year savings to support DAA's business plan
  • Support supplier transitions to ensure successful ramp up and ramp down of suppliers during key project execution
  • Negotiate Master Supply Agreements and manage supplier relationships through quarterly business reviews
  • Ensure New Product Introduction (NPI) projects are fully supported and key suppliers are engaged
  • Collaborate with suppliers to obtain product or service information such as price, availability, capacity, lead times, and delivery schedule
  • Drive improvement in quality performance with suppliers through cross functional collaboration to determine the root cause of defective or unacceptable goods or services with suppliers and implement corrective action

Minimum Qualifications:


  • A Bachelor's degree is required (Business, Economics, Engineering, or Finance)
  • A Master's degree in business, supply chain, or engineering is preferred
  • 5 to 7 years' experience in sourcing / procurement or related fields; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Experience with domestic and international sourcing and supplier management
  • Experience creating and implementing category strategies with 1-2 categories
  • Strong analytics and problem solving skills
  • Strong relationship management skills (internal stakeholders, peers, and suppliers)
  • Bias for action, self-starter, adaptive to a dynamic work environment
  • Critical reasoning and decision-making skills
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Work visa sponsorship is not available for this position

The typical annual base salary for this position ranges from $90,000 - 148,800 + 10% bonus in Minnesota. The range displayed represents the pay range for all positions in the job grade which this position falls. Individual base pay will depend on a wide range of factors including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
