Job Description
Pitt County Government - 4550 County Home Rd Greenville, NC 27858 - is currently seeking an Animal Control Officer.
Under general supervision this position is responsible to protect the public health and respond to requests concerning a variety of animal problems and complaints dealing with domestic animals and sometimes-wild animals as they might relate to rabies.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • This position regulates the rabies control laws of the State and policies of the County.
  • Rabies Control Officers are required to be on-call in a rotating schedule to handle calls dealing with an actual animal bite of a human being, an injured domestic animal, or request from a public safety officer.
  • Responsible for completion and final disposition of investigations and reports on all "dangerous or potentially dangerous dogs" when complaints are filed against the dog's owner.
  • Reports to the Animal Control Lead Officer.

Preferred (Majors, Experience, GPA, etc.)
Prefer at least 1 year of rabies control officer experience. Valid NC Driver's License with good driving record. Experience handling animals and courses related to animal control or rabies control.
