Compensation:

This position is hourly, and the starting pay rate is $31/hour

Rewards and Benefits:

Position Details:

The Grainger Data Science Apprenticeship is based in Lake Forest, IL. You will report to a leader within our Analytics & Data team. Our Analytics & Data team is a group of outstanding Data Scientists and AI experts with diverse backgrounds and strong technical expertise. Our team's mission is to use multiple technology platforms to build cutting-edge solutions and capabilities. We focus on Predictive Analytics, Machine Learning, Deep Learning, Natural Language Processing, and other data-intensive practices.

You are likely in the early stages of your academic career, and you are exploring options to determine the direction of your future profession. As such, you would like to learn what a career in data science entails and learn about the types of skills required to be successful in a data science career. We prefer that you are looking for exposure to a professional environment from which you learn and observe the processes and standards of an outstanding organization. And we anticipate you want to belong to a team in which you can apply and improve your collaboration skills.

You Will:

    • Learn throughout the summer observing and applying advanced analytics and machine learning techniques
    • Develop a deeper understanding of the ways in which a wealth of data, combined with the right technology tools, enables the development of meaningful insights that inform and influence business decisions
    • Collaborate with the internal team and business partners, and learn about our professional environment
    • Complete meaningful tasks working with data to extract insights about our customers and the business
    • Present results and findings to the team and share lessons learned from your experience in the role

You Have:

    • Desire to consider and evaluate a full-time career in data science
    • Motivated to learn and improve skills
    • Looking to gain exposure to core technologies in the data science field
    • Pursuing an associate or bachelor's degree
    • Desire and willingness to ask questions
    • A minimum 3.0 GPA
