This position works within a combined team of adjusters and attorneys, responsible for the management and oversight of outside counsel on litigated, complex files. Candidate will ensure that counsel's performance aligns with legal strategies and that counsel delivers high-quality legal representation. Ideal candidate will have significant experience managing external counsel, making presentations to diverse audiences, and preparing concise, written reports. All file types are managed and all venues within the eastern United States. You will report to a senior manager, litigation.

In this primarily home-based role, you will spend 80% of your time (4+ days per week) working from home, proximate to one of our office locations (within approximately 35-50 miles). On occasion you may be asked to travel to an office location for in person engagement activities such as team meetings, trainings, and culture events.

Locations for this role include: Madison, WI 53783; Boston, MA 02110; Atlanta, GA metro area; Eden Prairie, MN 55343; Keene, NH 03431; St. Joseph, MO 64507.

Position Compensation Range:

$86,000.00 - $142,000.00

Compensation may vary based on the job level and your geographic work location. Relocation support is offered for eligible candidates.

Primary Accountabilities

  • Investigate origin and cause of high exposure claims by contacting the appropriate parties including insureds, claimants, agents, attorneys, contractors, experts, special investigation unit, other adjusters, public personnel, etc. Check for prior claims and recognizes environmental exposures.

  • Participate in High Damage Reviews (HDR) to address coverage issues and exposure. Handle claims on a good faith basis.

  • Handle both 1st party and 3rd party claims under multiple policy types and numerous endorsements.

  • Conduct on-site inspections when needed, evaluates damages and handles claim negotiations with insureds, claimants, attorneys, public adjusters.

  • Respond to customer inquiries, make appropriate decisions, and close file as needed.

  • Interpret and determines policies, leases, by-laws, declarations, articles, and contract coverages and applies to all parties for assigned losses. Interprets claim history coverages.

  • Make independent decisions but recognizes when assistance is needed.

  • Proactively provide all parties with claim process and status as appropriate; answer questions or redirect to other areas.

  • Serve as a mentor and subject matter expert for less experienced adjusters.

  • May be required to complete other assignments, job duties, or participate in projects based upon skills, achievements, or experience.

Specialized Knowledge & Skills Requirements

  • Demonstrated ability to handle 1st and 3rd party, multi-line claims across our operating territories.

  • Demonstrated experience providing customer-driven solutions, support or service.

  • Demonstrated ability to efficiently and effectively handle complex claims.

  • Extensive knowledge of policies and endorsements coverages.

  • Successfully applied knowledge of each phase of the claim handling process.

Licenses

  • Obtain state specific property casualty claims licensing as required.

Travel Requirements

  • Up to 10%
