MDS Architecture Engineer

Contingent upon prime contractor approval.

Purpose:


  • Valkyrie Enterprises has a need for an MDS Architecture Engineer in Huntsville, AL. In this role you will support the Missile Defense Agency's Advanced Architectures Design (MDA/CAD) office, working to define the future of Missile Defense through development, analysis, and communication of future Regional Missile Defense Architectures. Additionally, you will coordinate and assist the development of joint architectures addressing regional missile defense against ballistic, hypersonic and cruise missile threats to protect Warfighters and allies.


Job Description:


  • Develop and coordinate comprehensive regional missile defense courses of action (COA) for future architectures to defeat evolving threats
  • Prepare and deliver briefings and supporting data in support of ARPs
  • Assist with identifying, defining, and prioritizing missile defense architecture gaps, challenges, needs, opportunities, and potential system mitigations.
  • Develop regional missile defense Blue Force and Red Force laydowns as well as intel-informed raid scenarios using a pacing threat set
  • Develop measures of effectiveness and architecture needs statements and coordinate iterative analysis on these architectures
  • Analyze and document performance of architecture options and future concepts implemented in these scenarios
  • Assist in the development of top-level architecture needs documentation to support requirements development as well the acquisition of new capabilities and prototypes
  • Develop and review technical memorandums, white papers, and briefings supporting findings and conclusions of analyses
  • Support working groups and technical interchange meetings to coordinate across the community a variety of topics to include: Future concepts, architecture needs, and data exchange
  • Provide regular input in support of government leadership to reports and weekly charts involving task status, action item tracking, risks, and schedule
  • Plan and execute projects involving prime contractors, other MDA offices, and FFRDC/UARC partners
  • Support the evaluation of future architecture elements and technology enablers that support ballistic, hypersonic and cruise missile defense


Qualifications:


  • Must have Bachelor's of Science in STEM field and at least 7 years of experience.
  • Must have at least 7 years working on missile defense-related or other complex, large DoD programs/projects
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Office applications (i.e., Word, Excel, & PowerPoint)
  • Must be able to work independently and/or lead teams to analyze and resolve problems


Desired Qualifications:


  • Working knowledge of Missile Defense Systems (MDS) components, architectures and concepts desired.
  • Familiarity and experience with MDA and/or other complex MDS Elements desired.
  • Working knowledge of Systems Engineering processes including Model-Based Systems Engineering and Digital Engineering strategies desired.
  • Experience in a military operational environment desired.
  • Work independently, applying engineering rigor to analyze and resolve problems within a fast-paced, dynamic environment desired.
  • Ability to self-manage and initiate within team structure desired.
  • Ability to decompose complex problems into actionable elements desired.
  • Ability to coordinate efforts in a timely manner across multiple organizations desired.
  • Ability to present complex information and concepts to leaders at various levels desired.
  • Preferred Navy veteran that held a position such as an Aegis Weapon System EDO or Joint Interface Control Officer, or alternatively an Army/Air Force veteran that understands MDS Elements such as THAAD/LTAMDS/Sentinel/ PATRIOT/GMD


Security Requirements:


  • Must have an Active DoD Secret Security clearance, and the ability to maintain clearance
  • Ability to obtain TS/SCI clearance preferred.


Travel Requirements:


  • Minimal Travel; 10% or less
  • If position requires travel by domestic flight or access to secure federal facilities/military bases, candidate must be able to obtain (by start of position) and maintain appropriate identification credentials, such as REAL ID. Physical Requirements:


  • Remaining in a stationary position, often standing, or sitting for prolonged periods
