Responsible for streamlining the transition of IT services and software releases from development and testing to a stable and operational production environment. Act as a key liaison between various teams, ensuring smooth coordination, communication, and risk mitigation throughout the release lifecycle and contributing to the overall reliability and efficiency of the IT infrastructure.

What you'll do as a ITSM Release & Configuration Manager:

  • Develop and maintain release schedules, coordinating across multiple development, testing, operations, and business teams.
  • Define the scope, objectives, and success criteria for each release, aligning them with business needs and priorities.
  • Identify potential risks and dependencies related to release timelines and implement mitigation strategies proactively.
  • Ensure adherence to enterprise IT policies and security standards throughout the release cycle.
  • Establish and maintain Configuration Management procedures, processes, metrics, and standards.
  • Manage and control changes to system configurations, ensuring compliance with established processes and accurate documentation in the
  • Configuration Management Database (CMDB).
  • Conduct regular audits and reviews to verify the accuracy and completeness of configuration items and the overall CMDB.
  • Oversee the end-to-end Change Enablement process, ensuring all changes are properly documented, tracked, and assessed.
  • Establish and enforce standardized change workflows and procedures aligned with ITIL best practices.
  • Oversee development and maintenance of change management policies to ensure consistent implementation.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for release and configuration management-related matters, fostering collaboration and open communication with all stakeholders.
  • Coordinate with development, testing, DevOps, and IT Operations teams to ensure proper handoff of code and services, including deployment automation and rollback strategies.
  • Facilitate communication and provide timely updates on release progress, including potential risks and mitigation strategies, to senior leadership.
  • Establish and enforce ITIL best practices related to Release Management, Configuration Management, and Change Management.
  • Continuously monitor and improve Release and Configuration Management processes to optimize efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Facilitate root cause analysis (RCA) and post-mortem reviews for failed or delayed releases, driving process improvements and incorporating lessons learned into future releases.
  • Collaborate with DevOps and Site Reliability Engineering teams to integrate automated release pipelines and CI/CD best practices.
  • Utilize IT automation tools (e.g., Ansible, Terraform) for infrastructure provisioning and release management.
  • Possess a working knowledge of issue tracking tools (e.g., Jira, ServiceNow) and version control systems (e.g., Git, SVN).
  • Monitor the effectiveness of the change management process and introduce improvements to enhance efficiency and compliance.
  • Stay up to date with ITIL best practices and emerging trends in change management, applying them to the organization's processes.
  • Facilitate training and awareness programs for IT staff and stakeholders on change management procedures and tools.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications you'll bring as a ITSM Release & Configuration Manager:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field; advanced degrees or certifications (e.g., ITIL v4, PMP, Agile, DevOps) are a plus.
  • Five or more years of experience in IT release management, configuration management, or a related field.
  • Proven track record of successfully managing complex software and infrastructure releases in a dynamic environment.
  • Strong understanding of IT infrastructure, including networks, servers, databases, and cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure).
  • Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and IT automation tools (e.g., Ansible, Terraform).
  • Working knowledge of DevOps and CI/CD pipelines, version control systems, and release automation tools.
  • Familiarity with scripting languages (e.g., Python, Shell, PowerShell) and operating systems (Unix/Linux, Windows).
  • Understanding of policies and regulations related to Configuration Management and security compliance.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to effectively communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to foster collaboration and teamwork in a fast-paced environment.
  • Exceptional organizational and multitasking abilities, with a keen eye for detail and the ability to manage competing priorities.
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving skills, with a proactive approach to identifying and resolving challenges.
  • A commitment to continuous improvement and a passion for optimizing release and configuration management processes.
  • This position requires the ability to read, write, and understand English at a level sufficient to perform job-related tasks effectively and safely. This includes understanding work instructions, safety protocols, and communications essential to the role. The requirement is directly related to the nature of the job and ensures compliance with workplace safety and operational standards.
