This position will work a hybrid schedule which includes a combination of working both onsite at La Jolla and remote. Established in 1978 at the UC San Diego Medical Center, the Department of Emergency Medicine (DEM) combines the benefits of an internationally renowned university with a large academic hospital. The UC San Diego Medical Center and the DEM is leading an effort, funded by the Federal Office of the National Coordinator, to foster data exchange, interoperability, and clinical integration to improve healthcare efficiency and patient outcomes among San Diego County community healthcare providers. Under the direction of the Admin Vice Chair, Research Administration Supervisor manages the daily operations of the fiscal and administrative functions of Research Pre and Post award for the DEM. The incumbent supports all duties needed for submission of proposals and management of awards. The incumbent and staff will manage the full range of sponsored research mechanisms and sponsors including recharges, clinical trials, lsa, gifts/fellowships, grants and contracts. Will train and supervise sponsored projects fund managers in the areas of pre and post award contracts and grants administration. Responsible for the establishment and management of proposal process, award acceptance, financial reporting for faculty and agencies, for all sponsored projects funding. The incumbent will foster the development of superior fund managers, encouraging senior experienced staff; training journeymen staff to become fully functional. The Research Administration Supervisor must foster excellent relations with department staff and faculty. The incumbent will be the primary communication support for research related policy and procedure, directly with faculty and with department staff, and will manage communications and problem solving for faculty grants and contracts matters, escalating to the level of Department Chair and MSO as needed. Supervises a small staff of Research Administrators working on grants or contracts according to established policies and management guidance. Recommends changes to department policies and practices. Receives assignments in the form of objectives with goals and the process by which to meet goals. Exercises judgment within defined procedures and policies to determine appropriate action. Identifies risks and responds accordingly. Provides priority setting and work flow analysis. Performs other duties as assigned. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Pay Transparency Act Annual Full Pay Range: $97,200 - $182,000 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%) Hourly Equivalent: $46.55 - $87.16 Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
